Accepting payments from non-verified Paypal users

I'm interested in peoples opinions and experiences with accepting (or not) payments from non-verified Paypal users.

Anyone have rough figures as to what percentage of Paypal users are verified?

Are you potentially missing out on a large slice if you only accept payments from verified Paypal users?

Honestly, I have never paid attention.

I know that I have taken payments from both, and I don't see bad behavior coming more from one group over another.

I do know however that some of the worst behavior, in my experience, has come from verified PayPal users.

I havent really noticed a problem either. Ive had my fair share of crooks mind you, but they are just as often verified than not.

I just learned something. I didn't know you could select not to receive non verified payments. Can you really?

What I wish is that you could "review" payments coming from Credit Cards rather than paypal balances.

The reason I ask is that I was setting up a WordPress plugin that has the option to accept payments from non-verified Paypal users or not.

I must admit that I hadn't really considered whether it was an issue or not.

I think "verified" is meant to indicate that the person making the payment is more likely to be the owner of the card being used to make the payment. Paypal do this by sending two small sums of money, both less than $1 to your checking account. You have to confirm with paypal what amounts they sent to become verified. Don't know how secure this additional procedure actually makes it.

I've never had any problems with non-verified paypal buyers. I think you set your Wordpress plugin to accept non-verified paypal buyers.

I've found no difference between verified or non-verified.
