Hello folks,
I’m looking for software that will create code for ebay feeds using specified keywords, with my affiliate ID embedded. I want to be able to insert the code into pages I create with Dreamweaver. (So I don’t need any page creation software) My search has discovered three products at the moment. RSS Weaver at $29.97, RSS Feed Generator Pro at $29.97 (They appear to be the same product) and phpBay Pro API at $79. There is quite a difference in price between the first two options and phpBay Pro API and it’s hard to tell what the differences are in terms of features, if any. I know I can manually create feeds through Ebay’s site, but it seems like a complicated process, hence the search for a software solution. I’d prefer a one time purchase, rather than a monthly membership package such as RSS Ground - So I’d be grateful if any fellow Warriors have any recommendations concerning Ebay feed software for static sites. Many thanks, Myles |

Any feedback out there on this one? Any Ebay RSS affiliate feed scripts or software you're pleased with? Or any to avoid?

Hi.
Take a look at phpBay Lite (free). I think this will do the job for you. I use it on some of my WP blogs. - Oddvar. |

Thank you for your reply. However, I'm looking for a recommended solution for static sites, not blogs.
As I mentioned in the second paragraph of my first post, phpBay Pro API is a lot more expensive than a couple of other scripts I've found - but it's not easy to make comparisons between them - so am wondering what other folks are using. |

I have never used phpBay Pro API because I use Wordpress.
But I highly recommend phpBay Pro, very good product with excellent support and forum. Wade Wells is the developer/owner of phpBay Pro, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you emailed him to ask questions regarding his API product. |

I don't use it phpBay API for static sites but I do use phpBay plugin for Wordpress and I love it. It's awesome. It's updated often (free upgrades if you buy), excellent support from Wade the developer, customer forums, and it just plain works. I'm sure the API version is just as good as the plugin.
I made my money back the first month (although it was $49 when I bought it). |

You can generate ebay feed with your affil id using the old search method on ebay. just go to ebay, opt out of the new ebay and then go to advanced search, scroll down and click show affiliate tracking information, at the top enter your keywords and whatever other options then hit enter. On your search results page at the very bottom you'll see an RSS button, that's your rss link with your affiliate id.
It should work on all categories except ebay motors but you can change the rss link by changing the appropriate category id number. |

Myles,
I'd back up what has already been said that PhPBay Pro APIis fantastic. I use both versions (static and blogs) on some of my sites and you can get it really targeted to your market, location, minimum price etc. The service is great and as someone else said the programmes are updated frequently. I'd highly recommend it. Nigel |

It looks like phpBay is most peoples favourite. At some point in the near future I will be getting to grips with Wordpress - so will probably end up getting the two versions of phpBay as a package deal. I have a couple of techie questions, so will fire off an email to the developer. Best wishes, Myles

I use phpBayPro - and the support and forum is awesome. Had a little glitch a couple of weeks ago and had an answer within an hour. It's great - and it is very flexible as far as being able to match to your site etc. Love it!

I am not sure I will agree on the support awesomeness. I sent them a question some days ago, and I have not got an answer yet. Maybe you, as an user, can give me an answer? Can you with phpBay Pro pull up several auctions from different Ebay sites at the same website, or do you set the chosen ebay country in the plugin setting, as you do in the Lite version? Thanks in advance. - Oddvar.

According to the features listed for the plugin, it includes Geo Targeting. So it should automatically list auctions based on Country of IP address. Not sure if that applies to the API version. One of the questions I need to ask! ![]() Myles

I am not sure this helps, because (correct me if I am wrong) Geo targeting is referring to your location towards the items location in the same Ebay site. What I was asking about was whether this plugin allow me to create one Ebay auction site where the item was pulled from Ebay.com, another auction with item pulled from Ebay.co.uk and so on, inside the same wp blog. Thanks. Oddvar.

Oddvar,
I'm really surprised to hear that you haven't had a response from Wade, the site's owner, because the support levels are outstanding. Leaving that aside, I "think" this answers what you're asking; There's a free (for full version 3 users) plug-in that according to Alan, one of the forum admins,: "the greatest feature about this plugin is that it instantly opens up a whole host of additional markets for each of your existing stores. A visitor to your site can now select from the various eBay host countries (that you are affiliated with, and have configured in the widget). A visitor from the UK, for example, may not like the eBay auctions you have listed on your US defaulted site, and now with a single click on a displayed flag your site will change to UK eBay “mode” and offer him a range of auctions from eBay UK (or any of the 14 eBay countries you specify)." It's not something I'm using at the moment so I can't tell you any more than that but I hope it answers your question. Nigel |

".....Yes, the Wordpress version can display auctions from different countries. In this case, you would set the default base country in the global options, but for each page/post you create in Wordpress, you can override the global country setting by using a parameter in the post to specify a different country. This will allow you to have pages/posts with UK for default, but can override specific pages/posts with Ireland, or Australia or Belgium and other countries that Ebay supports...." Hope this helps, Myles
