I'm going to start adding my blog www[dot]vidstowatch[dot]com to directories.
Do directories care where their reciprocal link is placed? Could i create a new page called sponsors or something and add them there?

Thank you
swood

I don't understand your question: "Do directories care where the link is? Could i create a new page called sponsors or something and add it there?"

What do you mean by this?

No you should have a link page. That is the best way. Call it Resource or Links and do it there. Plenty of free software and paid software to do this for you though.

I have never had much luck from Directories and Like I have learned in the last year. A ton of links is not always good and can get you banned.

Shouldn't the reciprocal link come from a completely different website?

Sorry i don't understand your question. I'm talking about directories that ask for users to add their reciprocal link somewhere

no, they don't. but they need link from the same domain and it would be good for you to create a new page for reciprocal links.

as easy as links are to get why in the world would you want to give reciprocals?

The only one that benefits is the link farm

Some directories require that you add a reciprocal link to your website before they add you.

Oh really. So they're not worth the time?

I wouldn't mess with them. Reciprocal links carry little weight and the link you provide back to a link farm is draining a lot of juice from your own site.

In that case, would you not recommend link swapping with other blogs and sites then?

It really depends on how much it can benefit both parties. If the ROI is good for both .. sure. A blog and a link farm is two different things.

Non reciprocal, one-way links are really much better. You should really focus on those links instead.

You just need to read the directories TOS. They will tell you if you need to place their link in a particular place. That information will also be contained in an email that they will send you upon signing up.

Not going to bother with reciprocal link directories any more, but thanks anyway

    Think about it.

You have your link on a webpage that has 2000 more links on it. The link is more than likely not keyword rich, it is drawing juice from a page that is being drained by 1999 other links.

Now they want you to link back to them. The juice from your site is then drained back to the farm and distributed back to 1999 sites.

If there is a winner here it would be the farm but they are not getting a huge prize themselves.

Just eyeball wise .. how many people do you think are going to ever see your link .. much less click on it?
