How should I build up my writers portfolio

I read a number of threads about freelance writing and getting high paying clients. I decided to hop on board, so I created my own portfolio site.

I did some research prior to posting this thread and I found some innovative ideas on how to build up my writers portfolio; however, I'm not sure how many I need in my portfolio before I can begin marketing myself to private clients.

Also, can you give me some tips to get my writing portfolio ready in a short amount of time. Thanks

Write write write, and practice practice practice.... in no particular order.

That is my opinion about that.

Quality scores over quantity in your portfolio. But clients will get to know your writing skills with the review of just a few articles. For you to get a good handle on your writing you have to, of course, write more.

Sometimes, customers would like to see more of your writing samples. In your website and in your communication with clients, tell you’ve more writing samples for review.

Different types of writing should be the mantra in your portfolio. This is particularly true if you are going to look for writing work in various writing niches.

Say you’re interested to bid for work in website content writing, article writing and technical writing. Include articles in all of these areas in your portfolio.

The only way I know to get your portfolio ready soon is to work for more hours. To ensure quality, however, you’ve to proofread and edit your content at least once. Be sure to include only the best of your work in your writing samples. Good wishes!
