Would it help in any way if i linked to other sites in the description of my posts on my blog.
For example for this post:
Hilarious Cartoon Asdfmovie | VidsToWatch
Would it help me in anyway to add the link to the authors website:
asdfland

Thanks in advance
swood

If I understand your question right it would add value to your site and your Onpage SEO since you are creating more value to your visitors via highlighting a relevant resource to them.

    Google does recognize this.

It won't help you very much other than Google seeing that you are a legitimate resource. You are more so helping the author's website by giving it a link, which is a good website vote in Google's eyes.

I agree with this, it won't have a massive impact but still this is something what I would miss from my Onpage SEO list.

Don't mind if it doesn't make a massive impact as long as it is at least helping a little. Thanks guys

It's all about helping out your readers/viewers. If you didn't have outgoing links, that would actually look pretty strange to Google.

Also, you should give credit where it's due when you share something from another site. They usually appreciate it, since it helps them, and that can help you build a relationship with the other sites.

One thing I suggest - add a little more written content with your videos. A sentence before, a comment about the video after. It helps Google see what you're about.

Google has stated many times not to link to "bad neighborhoods". If you do link to bad sites, it can hurt your rankings.

If we accept this advice, we may presume that linking to good sites would be beneficial. IMO and experience, a page will "inherit" a little bit of relevancy and "authority" from the other pages linked to.

    Hey Swood,

It kinda does look shady when a site has absolutely zero outbound links. If you think something on another site is good, don't hesitate to share it. I agree with everyone else that while the rewards may not be considerable, at the least, it helps give your site some credibility and of course, you can develop a relationship with other site owners through such good gestures.
