Anyone Care To Share Some Good Traffic Sources?

Would anyone care to share some of their traffic sources, both free and paid. I would like to find a few good ones in both categories, that are related and unrelated to Internet marketing.

Thanks Glenn

    Too big of a question.

There are literally millions of websites online from which you can get traffic.

If you want good answers, try to narrow your question to a specific niche and what you want people to do when they land on your site.

      Well said Bill!

Glen if you'd like to get some high quality traffic try the following:

      Free:
      1) Multiple YouTube videos, with your keyword in the title and description.
      2) JV partnership's.
      3) Article directories, articles on your site (SEO), articles/ comments on local market forums (including yahoo answers).

      Paid:
      1) Google Adsense (try banners) - and test (higher a qualified outsourcer to test if your don't know how).
      2) Contact websites in your market and ask to put up a banner on their site, giving them a commission or monthly agreed payment.

Above all, keep consistent and productive!

There are tons of them like niche forums, social networks, social groups, video sharing sites, article directories, blogs, press releases and a lot more. Make sure that these traffic sources are very related to internet marketing.

    Hi Glenn

There are several things you can do

    1.Create Videos
    2. Generate Video Responses on YouTube aimed at your target audience
3.Take the videos that you create then turn them into articles
    4. Create a targeted blog
    5. Make a Facebook Fanpage and create a campaign that will entice visitors to like your page - develop a relationship with your fans so you can market to them
    6. Develop relationships with bloggers so they allow you to write for them
    7. Develop relationships with other webmasters in your niche so they allow you to write for them
    8. Create e-books and pdf reports and submit them to document sharing sites
    9. Create non fiction e-books for the Kindle with links inside the e-books that direct readers back to your website

Thats all I can think of off-hand

    Hope this helps

    - Martin

Just can not be answer when asked like that. Here is the proper way to ask it.
    ----------
I have a make money at home website, which way do think I should market it. Should I use a single system or multiple avenues of traffic.
    --------
You can get broad traffic just by going to a traffic site that sells traffic, if all you want is traffic that is the way to go. If you want your traffic to convert alot more info is needed.
And our ideas still don't guarantee you money.

I mean everything counts in converting and getting traffic,
like your hosting company (It could be slow and people could be clicking off before they even see the site.)
Your web design. Is it customer friendly.
Your sales copy. How you capture your leads.
    On and On and On.

There are three types of traffic that work really well for me and if you're new to this you might learn the hard (and expensive way) all the various bad ways of generating traffic.

    1. Search Engine Traffic - both paid and free and it comes down to selecting the right keywords and having a nice place for people to land.

    2. JV/List Traffic - Traffic from people who own niche lists and are willing to let you advertise there.

    3. Niche Web Traffic - Ads or articles published to niche sites.

Before spending any money on SEO, PPC, Solo Ads etc. you need to figure out how to build nice websites with quality content and how to do proper niche research.

SEs is by far the most reliable source of unlimited niche traffic, so concentrate on SEO to attain good rank for relevant keywords.

I've got a page where I've developed a great relationship with the audience. It has grown quite large and when I post a link to the associated blog it always generates a lot of traffic (I don't post everything). I also get several email opt-ins a day via a form on the page without any special promotion.

    Unbelievable responses.

Do any of you really believe that is the way that any dot com has ever climbed the ladder in the past? Spam, scam, upload fake torrents, junk spammy this, crap spammy that.

Dot coms historically grow traffic from four sources:

    1. Viral word of mouth. They have something cool. People talk about them.

    2. Blogging and other networking. They spread the message on their own site and legitimately network with other people. They don't spam facebook, other blogs, forums, Google search results, etc.

    3. Advertising. They spread their message through advertising across various marketing channels.

    4. Promotion. Spreading the word through legitimate news and entertainment outlets.

That's how you get traffic that counts toward the goal of owning your own successful dot com... not spamming.

Huh?!? What are you talking about?

None of the answers so far have advocated spam or anything spammy. In fact, your answers pretty much recap what everyone else has been saying.

I have created a viral ebook which brings quite a bit of traffic back to my websites (the one in my sig). If you are going to create a viral ebook, make sure it is of very high quality and unique though, don't use some PLR or rehashed content as people will only be willing to share it if they think it has great value.

One thing you don't want to do...buy traffic at unbelievably low prices. Your awstats will count it, but the bots will not leave comments or buy anything.

The point; we all want good, targeted traffic. I like Martin's ideas. I would add interviews and press releases.

Relationships are key. Build relationships with solid upstanding people. Work together.

One of the best way to get traffic to your website is from Youtube. Upload quality videos to youtube and put your links in description.

    1. Do some guest blogging. It's free (unless you pay a writer to write the posts for you), and it can get you in front of incredibly-targeted traffic. Plus, by getting yourself published on the authority sites in your niche, you're establishing yourself as an expert - and showing why you stand out ahead of your competitors.

    2. Don't rely on Google for all of your traffic. Sure, SEO is important, but if every single one of your visitors (or a vast majority) are coming from Google, you're completely at their mercy. One algorithm tweak could wipe you out. Instead, consider the search engines to be "bonus" traffic, while you work on ways to get your name, expertise, and link out in front of eyeballs, rather than just spiders.

I recently read that the number one way to increase traffic is through a product launch with JV Partners/Affiliates. Guest posting was listed as number 2, and Video was I think third.
