How do you know if PLR content is scrapped or not?

I read a recent thread where the subject of PLR scrapped content came up. I'm not too familiar with PLR since I do all of my writing.

How do you know if PLR content is scrapped? And also how many times has it been around sites?

And even if I bought a PLR book at a moderate price (and not a cheap one that was probably scrapped) and I re wrote it, I think I would be worried that perhaps I was re writing someone else work without permission. I take it that there is no sure way of knowing. So why do people use PLR in the first place?

You can do a google search for some of the sentences and if it's on other sites its should be PLR. Also if the source you bought it from, is a reputable one, this will give a good indication.

That's an interesting question which has no easy answer. I think you can never be sure that a PLR is really original and not stolen because it's PLR so a lot of people use the same article as is, and even if you use copyscape you will find a lot of websites that use that same content but still you will not know who is the original author who uses it illegally and who really has permission to use the content.

The only thing you can do to avoid buying stolen content is to buy PLR from well known reputable sellers which for sure do not steal their content.

Do you have the content uploaded to your site? Use something like copyscape . com
(no space) to see if any results come back for the same content.

Thanks for all the great info. I guess buying PLR from a reputable source and checking the net for any duplicates is a good start.

Copyscape is good - it generally detects scraped articles as well as completely copied ones. Of course, preventive measures should be adopted at first. Make sure you buy articles from people with good reputations, and pay them a fair price. If it is unrealistically cheap, you have every right to be suspicious. Having said that, this does not mean that high costing articles are necessarily hundred percent original

The most important thing is finding a trusted PLR seller. I have a list of about 6 websites I buy from and that is it. I know the PLR I get is going to be high quality, it won't be stolen, and it isn't overly used.
