Fiverr writing gigs? Be cautious, ask questions!

Regarding Writing gigs on Fiverr:

I found several selling gigs on Fiverr who can provide a buyer with 20 plus written articles. The gigs state: I will write 20 plus UNIQUE articles that pass copyscape test on any keyword for $5, estimated delivery 1 or 2 days, with 9 or more orders in their queue!! Lets do the calculation. 20 articles (most articles are 300 or more words) X 9 orders = 180 articles. 180 articles X 300 words = a minimum of 54,000 words! Say What? IMPOSSIBLE!

Folks, many great writers need research and writing time to produce good, unique, quality written articles on your keyword choice. It would be quite difficult to impossible to write and produce that amount of articles in such a short time frame. BUSTED!

Further more, these specific gigs I am speaking of, state the buyer gets 100% unique articles that pass copyscape test. Articles are created by encoding stop words with similar characters. The articles are gathered from article directories. PLAGIARISM, plain and simple!

These gigs are misleading, they are NOT written by the fiverr seller, they are NOT unique, and the use of encoding stop words (some hidious software) to fool the eyes of google and copyscape is stealing from article directories (authors written material on the web). If you copy and paste these encoded articles on Squidoo, you get garbled characters that are - UNREADABLE. SURE, it passes copyscape, SURE you may not get the garbled characters on your blog or website - but it's a FOOL! Don't be TRICKED!

Caution to the wind: An individual may take advantage of the 20 plus articles gigs and decide to utilize their own service to outsource articles too their buyers, not realizing these gigs are using that encoding method.

STOP AND THINK. Don't fall for these gigs. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

END these GIGS: I contacted Fiveer support department to explain and report these selling gigs. Fiverr will look into it. I won't name names, but these selling gigs are still producing the encoding stop words (software). My complaint may have fallen on deaf ears!

Buyers beware: I am sure there are a good handful of writers on Fiverr who will write honest, unique articles. Ask the seller questions first. Are the articles unique and original? Do you use software or tricks to fool Copyscape or Google? If you don't get a satisfactory response, take your business elsewhere.

    It's really pathetic, but I am not surprised here. In fact, I've done my own research on Fiverr and the way I see it is this: Anyone crazy enough to purchase something like that deserves what they get out of it; Anyone on there fake hustling will eventually get what's coming to them. Forgive me, but I absolutely can't stand Fiverr other than the entertainment aspect of it. As a matter of fact, I wrote an article ("I Will Kiss Your A$$ for $5...) about poor business practices on Fiverr.

    But anyway, to each his/her own. Play your cards right...

    I wonder how they can even manage to have repeat customers? Its fine to outsource but at least check for quality and don't just accept and post. I never even imagine that someone can write an article just for $5.

    You get what you pay for in my own opinion.

    Thanks for posting this. I keep saying this to a lot of people. You need to read everything carefully and ask inquisitive questions so that you can get a worthy deal. Make sure the person you're getting work done from has amazing ratings too. You definitely only get what you pay for... a lot of people forget this when they outsource their work

    Thanks for sharing. It's hard to believe that someone would pay such a small amount of money for 20 unique articles. It just doesn't sound good. Exactly as YasirYar and Trevor said. You get what you pay for.

    I wonder where the buyers use the articles.

    I have a proofreading gig on Fiverr, and 50% of my work is straightening out the rubbish that people have written for other Fiverr gigs! Essentially, researching and writing just one unique article takes time, and no-one who's any good is going to do it for $5 for long.

    Maybe there's an SEO value to having these articles even if they're totally garbled, and the buyers aren't expecting anyone to actually read them. I don't know.

      Totally agree. I have a full time outside job, and am moving into IM as a strategy to get me out of the office and so that I can survive when I retire. I had a fiverr gig up for somewhere between 9-13 days (slowly starting to blank out on that). I got jobs, and then repeat jobs, and it killed me. These people who were lucky enough to get my articles (sorry if that sounds self-serving) saw a good thing and kept requesting more articles. I had 19 in that time period, many about issues I also had to research, and it killed me. I will never offer gigs on fiverr again.

      I know there are people who have figured out some formula to crank out lots of articles in a short time, but I agree that there is no way that a person can offer 20 articles at a time that can be unique, and no way they are written well, unless the person never sleeps.

        No, it doesn't sound self-serving. It sounds like self-preservation.

        Good writers burn out quickly on Fiverr because there are so many crap requests. I reached my own personal fed-up limit after doing four articles promoting counterfeit designer goods and being asked to do six more.

    The provider is getting $4 per gig.

    You cannot even believe that someone writing an article for $4 is competent, and now someone is giving 20 articles for $4? Amazing!!

      It seems that just because Fiverr make it so easy for people to sell services and products for such a low price, that all standard business procedures are just forgotten about by many of the sellers (and buyers) of Fiverr. People just don't treat it seriously enough and they forget that they are offering a service for money.

      It's definitely worth looking into every detail possible on Fiverr and also contacting the seller before you order to see what you're dealing with. As you say, there are people paying for these types of scams so, as long as there are people out there that are not willing to use a little common sense, these shady business practices will long continue.

      I offered writing gigs on Fiverr and a lot of buyers until I wised up. I can't believe anyone would offer 20 articles for $4 or that anyone would actually fall for that

        From a psychology perspective, it's amazing that people continue to go for deals that will inevitably screw them over. I used to think it was a matter of ignorance-- the people buying these gigs obviously don't understand content creation. However, I've met intelligent people who should really know better and got suckered in anyway.

        Bear with me while I explain a theory...

        I think that in many instances, we're dealing with masterful salespeople. Call them fraudsters, shysters, or scammers, but at the end of the day, they're getting you hand over your dollars for a product. The product could be blatantly bad or non-existent, but that doesn't stop people from buying.

        If you consider the differences in culture, it makes sense how these people can become so good. When the only thing standing between you and food for your family is a sale, you're going to shamelessly sell and figure out what works.

        I've got plenty of safety nets, between my spouse, assets, family, government, friends... no one is going to let me starve. This affords me the luxury of procrastination. I can learn to sell... or I can watch American Idol. I can create an ad and deal with objections... or I can play Skyrim for a couple more hours. I can do it now... or I can do it later.

        If it were sell or die, I wouldn't be sitting around. I'd sell twelve to fourteen hours a day. I wouldn't stop until there's food on the table. After a few years of that, I'm sure I'd pick up some influential tricks.

        To the people selling these BS gigs, we're walking goldmines. They know that we'll buy these gigs. They've got us figured out. They know exactly how to deal with our objections. Let's steal that chutzpah and use it for our own products (albeit not scammy ones).

          Most of you seem to be believers in the "they're just like us" fallacy.

          You assume the buyers of these encoded-article gigs are after the same things you would be: an original, researched, handwritten article that doesn't appear anywhere else.

          But what if they're not?

          What if they don't care where the material came from and just want 20 articles on fly fishing? Or buying gold? Or internet marketing?

          Yes, they could do the research themselves but you wouldn't believe how many people would rather pay $5 and have it done for them.

          If that is the case (and I believe it is) Fiverr's not going to do anything to stop the sellers. And the sellers will keep selling.

            I see what you mean. I suppose it's not always the case that the buyers of these products are being mislead, they just may actually want bad content for cheap and don't care too much about it.

            Though, if they're going to pay a seller to use content that's just been stolen and scraped anyway, then why would they bother to buy it through Fiverr? They're still going to be liable if the true owner of the content comes looking.

    I wouldn't sell articles on Fiverr unless I was truly desperate and I needed to buy some bread to feed the kids.

    I have purchased articles on Fiverr for BMR. One girl was new and her work was great quality. I gave her extremely good feedbacks and now she always has 50 orders! If you find a quality writer on Fiverr, the word is going to get out fast.

    I'd be highly suspicious of buying 20 articles for $5. We should build websites to help people, not to trick Google with crappy articles.

    You have to be careful on Fiverr. I bought a bunch of Squidoo Lenses from a highly rated Fiverr seller and Squidoo ended up deleting all of them.

    Fiverr is cheap-o heaven and the way it works I guess attracts people to exploiters as SEO, profiles and websites are easy to scam. I offered my article writing services on fiverr (genuine articles) which didn't work out very well; you cant beat these people who claim to allow 3-4+ articles for $5, people see it as to much of an offer to miss and get scammed in the process.

    To me things are pretty simple.

    Fiverr is cheap, period. I guess some people buying these 20 plus articles for 5 are already just trying their luck(to see if its really true) or not expecting high quality, perhaps to use thenm for content backlinks and such. People should have common sense to hire good writers for their money site, definitely.

    For real content writers on fiverr though.. Still freight not, just advertise yourself as quality, real writers. Not scams, not articles spun and scraped from tools. People should be able to tell the difference. Buyers looking for real articles will still be your main customers.

      I agree with what everyone here is saying. It's crazy.

      Someone asked me here who would fall for this scam? These articles are selling like hot cakes on a grill, by the hundreds, thousands.

      The buyers are seeing the number of articles they can get, they believe it to be true, as unique (which we know it's not) they see that it passes copyscape, which means the eyes of google. That's it. The top 2 things buyers are looking for is unique content that passes copyscape?!? The buyers are not seeing/understanding the bottom line, this is all due to the encoding stop words, this ridiculous software has created.

      Below is how the gig read:

      I just check Fiverr, that particular seller from India was taken down. I guess my complaint was taken serious!

    Fiverr might be getting a bad wrap here. I would not buy 20 articles for $5 as the quality would not be good BUT...I would use a proof-reading gig or a video gig. I also see the need of people to list on fiverr. It could be a great way for someone just getting started or a great way to test a product for market or many other uses. Just my 2 cents.

    Your right, Honestly they don`t have enough time to work on all those articles loyally. I am sure that most of the articles are half way spun or copy and paste. Even me as a freelancer, wound`t make a gig saying that much because I wouldn`t have enough time to get the job done.

    And remember that every gig that is late it affects your selling rate/percentage along with your customer service. I believe that Customer Service is everything! They have the power to spread your gig and promote that gig through word of mouth! The customer is always right!

    I do not know any such gig on fiverr, but if any is there then probably writer might be from third world countries. I have found many good writers at odesk who write a 500 words article in just $.15 and article is just not so bad(No spelling errors) Situation in these countries is forcing them to do so..
