    The Dip. Really helps marketers see where to push forward and where to abandon things - effective in those SNO syndrome moments

      I read "Tales of the Revolution" and really enjoyed it and was inspired by it. It is (or at least was) a free Kindle book. There are lots of good, inspiring stories in there of real people who made a difference in the world, and it shows you how anyone can.

    "Purple Cow", I think ... unless perhaps you're already a true believer in the book's basic philosophy, in which case you may not get all that much from it, arguably.

    Seth Godin is a difficult author from whose work to recommend one book, in abstract, because what you get from each depends so much on "where you are to start with", if you see what I mean.

    All of his books read like collected blog posts. If you like what he writes, just read his blog.

      This is a very good observation, and suggestion, it must be said ...

        I was thinking along the lines of "all marketers are liars" to respond to my list in a new approach

    My answer = "none", lol. I'm no big fan of his work. Seth Godin tries to put a new modern spin on marketing and success. He does this not in order to convey truth, but rather with the sole purpose of setting himself apart from others so he can seem different and unique, thereby enabling him to obtain a bigger following.

    I prefer to stick to tried and tested methods that have stood the test of time.

      His books are useful.

      Read them all for a lesson in thinking outside the box, creating your own branded thought leadership.

      The thing to really learn from him is what he DOES, versus what he has written in books.

      ---
      7 Key Lessons To Learn From Seth Godin
      ---

      (1) Be Known For Something - Seth is new ways of thinking about old concepts;

      (2) Pick A Signature Platform - Seth's is his blog;

      (3) Be Consistent - he blogs everyday;

      (4) Use Your Quirks - Everyone tweets, Seth doesn't;

      (5) Host a Community - what Triiibes is all about;

      (6) Do Something Big - he is reinventing publishing with Amazon;

      (7) Ignore the Haters - if fact, be unique enough to have some;

      If you find this useful, thank me...

    I like Seth's books, they are always a good read but be warned most are quite short with lots of white space. They're very affordable on Kindle so buy a couple and get a taste.

    The last one I read was "Poke the Box" - a motivational book about taking initiative.
