How much do you think the #1 site for "insurance quotes" makes a year?

I know this seems like a silly question, but we so often hear about niche marketing and making $100-$500 a month on avg., I think that it'd be interesting to get an idea of what some of these sites make that are ranking for high-traffic, competitive keywords.

So, what's your estimate?
#insurance quotes #makes #site #year

I don't know but i think he makes a killing, assuming that his site has attractive offers and he gets a good price for the leads.

Side-note, in the past, in another niche (weight loss) i also thought i would make "millions" by being #1 for "lose weight" or "lose weight fast"..but believe me it was FAR from it.

But i think "insurance quotes" is way better as a keyword since it's WAY, WAY more targeted, it actually specifies a direct demand and you can counter this with an exact offer matching this very demand. (As opposed to "lose weight" which is FAR to broad)

Thanks for your reply and insights, George R!

Wow, you used to rank #1 for such highly competitive keywords? That's really impressive! How long did it take for you to get that ranking?

I can't believe you weren't making a ton of money ranking for keywords like those, that's too bad. I guess wonders never cease in the IM world. I guess with keywords like yours many of the people may be looking for free information and not wanting to spend any money.

I'm thinking that before you spend all of the effort on ranking for a highly competitive keyword, it would be a good idea to do a PPC campaign on it first to check out conversions and income projections, etc.

I also want to add that the keywords "insurance quotes" are more of an example for this conversation. Really I'm trying to get a discussion going about high-traffic keywords in general.

Have you ever ranked for them? Was it as hard as most say it is? Most of all, what the extra effort and time worth it? I've read of many who ranked first for a niche keyword only to find that they got nowhere near the traffic they thought that they would have. Have any of you found this to be the case with any supposedly "high traffic" keywords?
