Are flippa buyers playing dirty ?

I never sold a website on flippa before, I listed one but as the price was lower than my expectation I passed on the offer.

This the second time listing, I noticed some people come to the auction complain about anything, the comment usually trying to give a negative feeling about the website, I can tell these guys are not wondering about my auction and they are not either waiting for an answer, they don't seems to be serious buyers or sellers, I am not sure what is their angle ?

Last time one was complaining about my website changes and that my old website design was better (I changed the design a week earlier to the posting), and at the end of the auction was a bidder, after the auction ended he emailed me asking for my reserve price and if I am willing to sell it for $xxxx ?!

I haven't been on flippa for long, but I started to get the feeling some buyers strategy is to make your site looks bad to get the final price lower by getting other buyers off bidding.

Is it the case ? anyone with such experience in flippa ? what do you do with such members ?

I don't accept bids that could be final from people with no history. In the early stages, I might accept just to make it look more active. But I never auto-approve newbies.

And I try to put all the information up on the auction, so there's really no questions to be asked or answered. If i have a reserve set, I say I am not revealing it. That's my right as seller. It's also your right to value your website how you see fit.

If someone skips out after the auction ends, let flippa know about them. You'll get to re-list free.

A question that drives me crazy is "Why are you blacking out the Adsense CTR and CPM? what are you hiding". Dumb ass noob, buying an adsense website and not knowing a thing about adsense. god.

I am looking at buying a site off Flippa but I have never used the service before. Am I therefore wasting my time if the quality sellers are ignoring new accounts? I wouldn't expect there be a lot of regular buyers for sites so just curious. I defintely won't be buying a heap of crap just to build up my buyer profile.

onegoodman, you get the negative comments selling pretty much anything in a competitive market. I've found the best way to deal with it is by using it as a way to highlight some positives about your listing. If I take your example of someone saying the old design was better then I would give a professional response highlighting all of the benefits and reasoning behind the new design.

As swingin4dafence mentioned, this gives the serious buyers more insight into 'who you are'.

I got funny questions like, why your listing looks like listing B ? or how do you compare with your website with website y , website y looks much better? Your new design looks ugly, i don't like it ? Well, If he really is not buying why the hell do i care if he like it or not? and if he doesn't like it why is he biddin on it later ?

Thank you for telling me about the free listing, I didn't know about that before, as I mentioned I am a little new to the flippa, I hang there sometimes, but not much of experience as buyer or seller , and i guess people over there can tell as well.

Some of these people have competing listings and are trying to trash your listing. Report those comments to Flippa if they are trying to trash your listing. As for trying to drive the price down so they can buy it cheaper, nothing surprises me in that marketplace by buyers or sellers.

Flippa does have TOS regarding comments, so you can report the comment, but by the time they do anything, your listing could already be damaged. I've long complained about allowing comments on listings because of this problem with the system.

There are a lot of lurkers on Fiippa that like nothing better than finding flaws with what is offered and causing trouble with no intention to buy. I have seen this problem is especially rampant with anything under $1500. Not to say it does not occur on nearly every auction. It is unfortunate, but simply a fact of doing business on Flippa.

My best recommendation to you is to list a site on Flippa with the expectation that you will get these kinds of comments and requests and to have PLAN on dealing with them in a very candid and professional, but brief manner. When you write your responses to the trouble makers keep the picture of the ideal buyer in your head and imagine how he or she would want to see you respond to these questions. The REAL BUYERS just want to see that you are confident, professional, stand behind your work and have reasons to do what you did or for not doing or showing something. I have seen way too many people lose their tempers and flame the trouble makers. This causes a war on line and no one that once was interested is going to try to wade through the shouting match to figure out if it is a good investment.

Stay cool. Have a plan. Answer all questions promptly and professionally and be candid.

Above all, do not let a few bad questions get in the way to communicating with genuine buyers that will buy. Every sentence you write in response should be crafted for them as the ultimate audience. Use the adversity to show you are solid, unflappable and smart.

I simply remove their comments and mention they were removed because the answer is in the description above.

I wouldn't loose my temper, not only because of the auction, i don't want to get in trouble with flippa for people who sign up just to cause other people issues. I seen many members got suspended while their auction is still running apparently, somebody got to them.

Hmm, I'd love to have some complainers to complain about
Is it usual for views and bids to practically stop after a couple of days?
I know any auction usually gets most active at the end, but I'd like to know that there will be some lfe shown!

I only listed once and the first buyer who ask me about the site is the final and only buyer with the price I wanted. So I didn't get any bad or annoying comments. I am going to list more in the future, this information is useful for me. Thanks warriors!

I look at the Flippa listings a lot, and I see many auctions that get numerous negative comments for no apparent reason other than it seems the people commenting have nothing better to do than troll auctions and make trouble. Maybe they enjoy it. I don't know. The seller always has the option of removing comments that are blatantly offensive. Those comments can also be reported to Flippa, which has a comment policy posted on the site. So if a comment violates the comment policy, do let Flippa know (and remove it promptly). I've seen sellers address the fact that they removed comments because the comments violated Flippa's comment policy.

There are also comments from people who have obviously never used or even browsed Flippa before. I see comments from people complaining that the auction was almost over, then re-set to another four hours once a bid was placed. They act like this is the seller's fault, when it is actually Flippa policy to do this to prevent auction sniping, such as what goes on over at eBay. A little reading of the FAQs on Flippa would prevent a lot of these comments. But there's not much you can do about the trolls except remove and report them.

Problem with removing comments is that no one can tell what was removed or why and it causes some hesitation. I see requests all the time to explain why comments were removed. Just sad that it happens at all.
I still think it is best to leave the comments intact and deal with them in print. No one on Flippa is going to be surprised to see you have to deal with some trolls. Too common.

Again . . . gives you an opportunity to show your metal. Just sayin . .

Yep, I've had this problem numerous times. Stupid people come and post idiotic comments on your auction without even having an intention to bid on your auction -- just to make you look bad.

What I personally do is simply delete the comment. Usually the user doesn't respond again and if they do, I state my opinion loud and clear, then contact Flippa to get that discussion permanently removed.

Huh this is funny, I was just researching this very thing and came across this post. Just added a site to flippa and already have posts asking to lower the auction days and asking why I black out the adsense screen shots.
