Hey,

How do you go about crafting stories for sales letters?

I've been through Troy White's product but wasn't a huge fan.

Do any of you have a method?

    Hi Joe,

Most stories, movies, books, and even salespages have a basic structure. Our hero want's something, makes various attempts do get it and is met with challenges, they then overcome those challenges and reach their goal.

Break down most any story and you'll see the general theme repeated.

... a lot of the time the client I'm writing for will provide a brief description of the "storyline" they are looking for. From there, I simply use my imagination to fill the void.

But what if you are writing for yourself? ... I'd put myself in the position of the people who will be reading your sales letter. What life situation are they in that they ended up reading your letter? What kind of improvements can be made to their life by purchasing your product? What significant voids have they had that you are looking to fill?

By answering such questions you can "backtrack" to create a storyline that you, yourself, "followed." Explain to you where you were, and how you came to be where you are. Use the answers to your questions to fill the void.

    Hope that helps.
