Getting a good screen shot

I use print screen, but it is just not good enough, is there any screen capture programs out there that do a better job?

Why is it not good enough?

What are you trying to do?

I use screen capture and then simply load the capture into photoshop for cropping and adding text.

You can also hold ALT while you press the screen capture key and you will copy just the current window.

Snagit is a great tool to capture screen shots. It can capture the cursor too. Checkout Snagit features with its 30-day free trial.

      Hi Learnrope,

If you are using windows software, then you should already have a free one on your computer.

Go to the start icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, click on it, and type in snipping tool. It should appear in your list of programs.

If so, it's very easy to use and works well, but let me know if you have any trouble with it.

      Hope that helps,

      Max.

Mac has one built in too, just select Cmd:Shift:3 to take the current screen or Cmd:Shift:4 to drag the area you want to capture, as soon as you let go of the mouse, it captures the image in the selectable area and then copies it to your desktop.

Additionally there's SpeedCap which also saves the image online and gives you the URL of that image.

        All the best

The most important consideration is not the screen capture tool, but the editing software used to make those Proof Of Earnings statements believable. :p

Bill, I sense sarcasm, sniff sniff
I want it for nothing to do with internet marketing, I do concur that posting shots of earnings is ridiculous, I even followed a link to the thread in a forum , not this one by memory where a individual was soliciting his services to BS those & other screen shots. Looking at them ,I couldn't pick the fake.

    Anyway, back to my query,
Oops. This is for web capture only. Misread your question. Sorry
What is the difference btn web capture and a screen shot?

I find, that when I want to blow it up to print it large, it is too grainy, but then the penny dropped, is that a limitation of my screen resolution anyway, not of any of these programs or my Windows print screen function?

    Thanks, LR

"Awesome screenshot" extension for Chrome (and maybe Firefox?) works great, lets you capture what's showing om the current screen, what's highlighted, or the entire page, and then crop and annotate it within the program.

i use screen capture by google, it's an extension addon for google chrome.

can do whole page, just visible area or define what portion of screen you want to save.

works pretty well for taking and saving screen shots...no complaints

    thanks,

Several of them. I've been using SnagIt for Windows. Mac has a native screenshot feature which is excellent, better than several paid programs.

You may also look up some plugins for Chrome; there are a number of useful ones.

actually, with Mac you can do it two ways:

    Full capture: CMD +SHIFT+ 3
    Certain region: CMD +SHIFT +4

Whats the latest movie you watched? Anything good?

I also vote for Jing (on PC or Mac)

Or as Suthan says on a Mac:

    Full capture: CMD +SHIFT+ 3
    Certain region: CMD +SHIFT +4

Those are the methods I use.

I also used to use a program called SnagIt (not free) when I used to be a PC user.

I have not used the other software but if you already have photoshop, the snipping tool in windows 7 is there and ready to go. Just type in "snip" in the Start-search programs box and it will come up.
Put a box around what you want to copy and save it. Then open it up in photoshop and edit as needed.

I use Wisdom-soft ScreenHunter - I have the free and the pro version - I've used it for years and it's quick and easy. I use Snag-it in particular because it can be set to capture the links and videos and save it all in pdf format with clickable links, etc.

Great info from everyone on other cool tools - the snipping tool (I did not know that existed till now) and also the Chrome tool. I've added those to my screen capture tool bag.
