Question about Facebook, Twitter Share buttons.

I am wanting to add share buttons on my site. Where is the best place to get them? Does the share script slow down the website in any way? Do people really use them? Does it depend on the type of website? My site is a price comparison site, would a share button be helpful for it? Thanks for any help in advance.

    Vjboc,

Personally since my site is based on Wordpress...I use a wordpress plugin which does the trick.

If not you would need to get the different scripts from the different sites that you want to be able to interact with.

Personally on my sites the sharing scripts do not seem to have an adverse effect on my site speeds.

    Kind regards

    Chris

I use AddThis - Share Button, Social Bookmark, Sharing Plugins and Analytics for my social sharing buttons.

You can see them in effect here...

They can, but rarely. Remember, they're being pulled from the third party site itself. In this case addthis.com. So if, for any reason, theres a delay at their end, it can cause a delay at yours. Usually this doesnt happen. But I have seen buttons that fail to load occasionally.

    Absolutely.

It shouldn't. Of course if your site is an adult theme, it might.

Social widgets should always be part of your onsite optimisation strategy.

    Hope this helps.

I use addthis aswell, I've tried a lot of different others .. including other major ones like sharethis & addtoany.

But I prefer the feel to addthis, and the analytics are really handy too & it now supports address bar sharing!
