New Domains, 1st Rank - Myth Or Truth?

From what I've heard from a lot of people recently and also on this forum, that new domains cannot rank number 1 in google no matter what. Is this true or is this is a myth as well?

Can a 1 or 2 month old domain rank number 1 in google for a certain keyword?

    It depends upon the competition. If you choose a keyword with heavy competition, of course it's going to be difficult to rank competitively, but if you go for low competition, if you do the right SEO, of course it can rank well.

    Right- i think the competitive nature of the keyword is a major determinant factor in the ranking. Also your content will matter a lot

    yes age of domain matters from google panda update......so aged domains with nice SEO optimized content will give first preferance...

    aged domains are higher authority site that made before your site....
