The Billy Squier Marketing Technique

Billy Squier understood what was required to get some people to take action and to declare their love for one product over another...

When he was riding high on the pop charts, it almost seemed like no one could bring him down...

But he rode his wave and was gone...

The Billy Squier Marketing Technique is actually used today online by many businesses...

The one that most readily comes to mind is Ezine Articles...

Where else can you go and get your first article approved, and the site owner calls you an "Expert"...

When they call their authors "experts", two things are accomplished:
  • They lift the ego of the person posting articles; and
  • They lift the perception of the author in the eyes of readers.

In doing the first, Ezine Articles is practicing in real-time, the art of The Billy Squier Marketing Technique...

As demonstrated most beautifully by the lyrics of the following:

Stroke me, Stroke me....

I agree with your statement, anyone can publish content on Ezine Articles.. Some could be the quality writers that hold up to the title of "Experts" but others are lower quality writers who wouldn`t necessary stand up to that large title. Point taken for sure!

There's one marketer that comes to mind who is a genius at "stroking" the people on his list. He continually tells them how great they are, how they can achieve great things, that he supports them and is rooting for them.

It's a bit corny, but it works because he is completely consistent in this persona. It comes across as sincere, and I can imagine people staying on the list just because the marketer makes them feel good.

And that was a really interesting observation, Bill.
