Squeeze Page or Opt-in form in the sidebar?

Wanted to know how the results have differed for directing your traffic to a squeeze page altogether or directing them towards the opt-in form on your sidebar by indicators. I find direction to squeeze page a little negative because it outright demands from the visitor and it might annoy them. Secondly, perhaps webmasters might not like linking to a squeeze page when using your content on their sites.

    Hola,

Oh you're going to get way better results linking someone to a squeeze page than just having the opt-in in the sidebar of your blog. But do both! Also throw it below your blog posts and even add something like popup domination so that they can see it right away when they hit the site! Make sure it's always above the fold too

Something that drastically improves my conversion is this set up.
    • Promoting FREE eBook in sidebar
    • Pop Up with the same FREE eBook
You can see it here: RecognizeReality | Alternative News Beamed To Your Personal Space

Conversions went up with 285% and I am still getting new subscribers each day (10 a day on average) This website got side tracked though as I am doing too much at once as usually. Just use something like aWeber, they have a WP plugin. Pretty sure other autoresponders have that as well. And I use PopUpDomination for that particular website.

With this setup you give your potential subscribers a choice. And as with a squeeze page, the funnel usually ends when clicking on the close button. Do note that I use such pages as well when promoting products. But when it comes to a content site, like the website mentioned before, I use the setup of sidebar and Pop Up.

The Pop Up directs there attention to the FREE offer. On close a cookie will be setup and you can determine how long it takes for a returning user to see that Pop Up again. The sidebar promotion gives them another solution if they still want to subscribe. Let the reader/user of the website think they are in control!

      Steve,

On a sidenote: That quantum Locking video rocked bro.

Too bad we can only effect quantum entanglement at cryo temps. I work with a lot of cryo and it currently required far to much energy to be feasible at this point.

      Maybe on other plants

Yeah! Great innit? There so much to (re)discover in this world. I think we are heading for quite some innovative years.

Maybe cold fusion offers a solution or perhaps zero-point energy. But that's another story al together!

Let's get back on topic as I don't want to jack someones thread here.

          LOL! Right...

To the OP: Typically, squeeze pages have a higher conversion rate in terms of visitors opting in due to a lack of distraction and/or other options on the page...hence the label "squeeze".

Yeah, a squeeze page has proven to be more valuable for me in terms of getting more subscribers per day.

A simple opt-in box in the sidebar usually grabs little attention and doesn't work so great to pull in new subs.

There are some options but I prefer to just create a click-able image (ad) or banner which drives the visitors to my squeeze page.

Of course, it needs to be above the fold right the first item in the sidebar.

            Cheers
            Ray

Squeeze page will give you better results than the side bar .... go for squeezepage that's my bet.

From my personal experience my squeeze pages convert at about 1,000% higher than sidebar (or any onpage) forms. But no reason to have both.

I do both. I have my squeeze page that I drive traffic to, but my blog has a link to the squeeze page in almost every article with a call to action as well as a sidebar opt-in box.
