Hello Everybody
I guess that many like me are in a situation as a newbie, that you just don't know where to start:
Working online are many things; so the question is where to begin. What is the best way to make money on-line these days as a new starter? What is hot? I have realized that things can change on the internet on a daily basis which makes it almost impossible to verify what is right and what is wrong. Any comments and recommendations are more than welcome.
Cheers

Doing what works takes time to make it work.

    Basically this means that...

You will only know if it works after doing it for a very long time.

But in order to be wrong it also takes a long time to do it.

Do you get where I am going with this?

Are people doing the right thing that isn't working for a long time?

Or are people doing the wrong thing that isn't ever going to work?

    ---

The great thing about not having done anything at all is...

That you can start anywhere you want!

    1) Build a site.
    2) Write a squidoo lens
    3) Install google analytics on your site
    4) Apply for Amazon Associates
    5) Apply for Google AdSense (after you build your site only and make sure it's great-looking and offers content)
    6) Apply for CJ.com account for free
    7) Identify things you love (hobbies, music, writing?whatever?)
    8) Brainstorm on domain name address based on your hobbies
    9) Write 3 articles about the things you love the most about that thing, be spontaneous.
    10) Write 1 more article on how YOU do something, hell, it can be even about how you started your first website, or how you are going to make your first $100 online, and document the process.
    11) Post a few backlinks to your site with anchor text as keywords
    12) Add a signature to your Warrior forum account
    13) Learn a new skill, like drawing in photoshop, just fiddle around with anything.
    14) Create a Mailchimp account (free) and figure out how to place a newsletter subscription form on your site
    15) Ask friends to sign up to your Mailchimp form, create a first autoresponder, just for fun.
    16) Create a facebook page for your website
    17) Add Facebook comments to your website (pretty simple)
    18) Think about how you can develop creativity
    19) It's all about you and your growth
    20) Push yourself to learn new things and experiment
    21) Do things you dont think will work anyway
    22) As you experience, you grow, as you grow your business will grow alongside with you.

There isn't a start or an end to this process.

You experiment. Learn. Apply new knowledge. Do more.

When I work, I don't always know what I am going to do today. But I make sure to have fun doing it If I am not having fun or not working on what I want, I don't do it at all.

    Hey yanever.

Don't make the mistake of starting with a course.

Step 1. What do you want from IM? Monthly Income Goal?
Step 2. Look at the top most popular IM business models.
Step 3. Which one fits your passion and goal?
Step 4. Buy the best course on that business model
Step 5. Commit until you succeed.

    Good Luck

I think the reality is that there really isn't one "best way" for beginners: it depends on your own skill-set, where you're starting from, what sort of business you want to build up, and other variables.

Perhaps unhelpful, I'm afraid, but still true.

Hi yanever and welcome here on the Warrior Forum!

Actually, there isn't a sure answer to your question. It depends of the kind of person you are.
First of all, you should spend time thinking about what kind of business will be perfect for you. You can't just say "I wanna do the business that can give me a lot of money", it's not a way.

There are a lot of methods to make money online, but not all those "methods" are perfect for a BUSINESS ONLINE. So, ask yourself "Do I wanna make money online?" or "Do I wanna create a business online?" The second is the best way to start, but it requires time, some money (not so much, fortunately) and dedication.

    Anyway, my suggestion here is:

    1) Market and keywords research for a particular topic.
    2) Build a website and write a little about your topic.
    3) Build a list and a follow up email.
    4) Promote affiliate products.
    5) Create your own product.

Maybe it's a professional way to start your online career ;-)

Definately try out what people are posting in this thread.

Personally I would suggest reading, reading and more reading. Definately invest the $37 for this forum and check out all the great ideas. All the reading will give your mind so much fuel you'll be raring to get started and you'll have a great inside knowledge of what to do. Don't jump into the deep end by spending money on websites and doing something that you have no idea about. Take your time and the rest will follow

I would definitely suggest reading up on different methods, however, do not overload your brain with so much information that you become worse off than were before you even learned anything.

    1. Research different methods
    2. Pick one and focus on that one ONLY.
    3. Seek out a coach if you get truely lost.
    4. Apply the learned methods untill you make a sale.
    5. Reinvest, scale up, and repeat.

Don't think toooo much into it. Keep things as simple as possible. Treat it as a game at first. Like it's not that important to you and just do something untill you see a result. Just don't keep investing money into make money products. Focus on investing into your business instead. And most importanly do NOT give up. You can't fail if you stick to something long enough to see a result. Good luck!!

There are may places that you can start in. Depends on what do you want to do! do you write articles, are you good with design, what are your interests? If you start with something you like and/or good at, you have better chance to progress and enjoy.

If you are considering going into marketing products click bank maybe the easiest way to start {simple head over to clickbank.com, pick a product you want you think you can market, and start creating articles and blogs to promote it}.

One piece of advice though, There is a huge amount of info out there, pick ONE topic, read around it, pick ONE methodology and do it to the best of your ability. it will take time and effort, but will be rewarding. After you are done with one method, weather you continue with it or not, you can try another.

The keyword here is ACTION, don't spend too much time reading around and trying to perfect, take action and if you get stuck somewhere you get a lot of help from the forums

    Best of luck

If you are new and you need to make a few quick buck I would suggest selling a skill that you have here on the forum. For example if you can write good english articles you can list it for $20 and then you can sell your article writing services. If you can't write articles, maybe there is something else that you can do that warriors would find value in.

If you have some capital, I would start in paid traffic. It's much less work and learning curve, but you risk your cash. If you do go down that path, might be wise to sign up for one of the premium forums like STM or AffPlaybook.

I highly recommend starting in POF (Plenty of Fish) for beginning paid traffic newbies.

Tactics may change a lot but the fundementals never do. I often say that if an old school direct response marketer from the 1930's came back to life they would still be able to make a killing online...

How could this be? you might ask.

I mean they don't know what ppc, seo, cpa, afiliate marketing, adsense etc is.

The truth is these things are all tactics that will come and go. But understanding how to solve a problem for a market and the psychology of how people tick is what marketing really is. These things are constant and never change.

The better you understand these things the greater an internet marketer you will be. And when the tactics change it really doesn't matter so much.

    Hope this helps, Peter.

Rather than building a product you have a passion about... find a hungry market first.
Discover what they want and give it to them.

You will need a sales funnel... a series of related products. To make the big bucks from a front end ... single sale... is difficult these days.

Traffic is important... your niche of choice should be evergreen and sizeable.

    Best of luck,

Clarity is a HUGE part of IM success.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

I see someone has already recommended affiliate marketing. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS! (And stop buying any info not related to your niche and target market, period!)

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

And remember: build a list, Build a List, BUILD A LIST!

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

If you DON'T have a solid plan or system, THAT'S when it's hard. A good system will shave YEARS (and save you big $$$) off of your learning curve

That's why I recommend investing in at least one good, comprehensive IM course (or mentor who will give you such a system) instead of jumping from one $37 e-book to the next. A lot of people here complain about not being able to make any money. But neither are they willing to invest in their business. (Buying a random bunch of $37 e-books doesn't count.)

The best thing I ever did was invest in a comprehensive IM course aimed at REAL business owners, not just other IM wannabes. Yes it was $1500. (Now it's only $997. :p) But it was truly some of the best A-Z IM info I ever bought. Everything else I've learned (from the $37 e-books) since has simply been plugged into this system.

Get a solid plan or system and then work the plan!

      Hope this helps!

I think there is a lot of info on where to start. The 22 options is awesome! I like to focus on the division of the day. For me, it should be 1/3 learning, 1/3 on my blog, and 1/3 social media. That is just a general formula---it varies from day to day. Sometimes it gets mixed together---commenting on an instructive blog post is both learning and social media time. Before I go to bed, I decide how much time I can work online the next day; and when that will be. I need to be realistic. I need to set reachable goals, but I have a good idea of what should be done the next day.

Last night, I did not set my goals for today. I did very little and I am kicking myself for the wasted time. You can bet that will not be repeated tonight!

you can start anything you like..the main point is to START DOING THINGS...

if you never start anything, you will still be reading up and asking where to start...

It's best to do a little research into a niche/topic/product before you do go ahead and commit your time though. If you go in blind you might well find the competition for your idea is too steep and find yourself running up a hill pulling in a gale force wind.

But yes you do need to take action and do it sooner rather than later. Most people will end up ditching their first site in favor of a better informed choice as they learn more. But you must give everything a good try before moving on.

Yes you are right. You need to take action. But like braincandy7 said. When you take action it doesn't mean you will make money.

My suggestion is to do research and invest time into it. It's worth the time in the long-run. Yanever, to find out what is hot, just type that in Google and you can find more answers than we could give you.

The great thing about online business is that you do just about anything so I'd recommend researching and when you have found something that you feel comfortable with JUST DO IT! Not mentioning you have plenty of mentors you can seek on forums like WF so just dive in.

Start with affiliate marketing because you will not need a website or your own product. Some people started off this way and never changed to anything else because they found affiliate marketing so lucrative. What you need to do now is concentrate on learning all there is to know about affiliate marketing, in terms of where to get the best products to promote, how to drive traffic to your affiliate links and that sort of thing. Avoid trying to learn a whole range of things right now as this will only delay your progress. Learn what you need to learn first and implement it before you move on to the next big thing.

dont go after HOT stuff just to make money , that takes you away from long term goals...

    1) set short term cash flow goals, and how you can start making money rightaway by doing freelancing
    2) set a 6 month to a year goal ad then focus on 1 business model which you need to totally focus on, try to get in to program with coahicng, skype group and mentoring .. this will be the most critical aspect , if some one who did it and is trus worthy already can guide you then you can reach your goals faster . good luck

Anything can be HOT in the IM market....there is a lot to choose from.

It's to easy to get distracted by all of the shiny objects that you can offer as services, build for affiliate income, or sell online.

But like everyone else has been saying....TAKE ACTION, try things, make mistakes, make more mistakes, and get through the learning curve.

Eventually, you will have that AHA moment. Is that when you make 1mill? Nope, but you'll notice when things start to go a little smoother, the money is coming in, and you LOVE what your're doing.

That is ultimately why we are all in this industry, right?

you need a plan and then work that plan each step of the way.

What is that saying. Plan your work, and then work your plan. Or something along those lines. This will give you some great results.

Another good way is to go to someone who is already successful and study what they are doing and why it works. and try to emulate that. Good luck yanever!

    Hi Yanever,

The way to start is to find a reputable internet marketer that went through all the mistakes and now earns real income.

The way to do that is to ASAP have your own product to promote.

I've followed a reputable mentor that began with affiliate marketing and made some good money with it. Now he his mentoring people to promote their own products.

Within 4 months I've made my first 1000$ a month.

    Regards

    David
