Hey I've never used the WP Aweber plugin before and I don't think I ever will. I've always just created the form, taking the code and placed it on my blog. So I would recommend the latter.

In terms of Facebook Fan Pages I have been experimenting with another methods of capturing leads. I'm using an opt-in app, which collects the subscribers details from their Profile Page; with one click. So far it has worked wonders.

I didn't even know there was a plugin...lol. I just use the html an put my webforms on my pages. I do like that Aweber can grab a person's info from FB...saves time AND saves the "fake" email problem. Plus opens the door for a friend connection.

I use both. I use the plugin for my sidebar and install the script manually on the pages.
    No complaints.

I just include the one line of code for the form - don't see the need for another plugin just for that.
