Hi
Sometimes my friends send me links to single page viral websites, e.g. whatfilm.org, computerpowertest.com or "A hunter shoots a bear", "That can be my next tweet". As for me, all these websites are pretty amazing (and I really like the idea of viral marketing), but at the same time, I know that I definitely won't visit them very often, because they're only funny for the first time. So, they can deliver traffic, but their position mostly depends on new visitors, who possibly won't come again. I have some ideas for websites, that can possibly go viral, too, but I am not sure if they'll turn out to be good enough to bring me new customers. Do you think it's worth it to create viral websites to support your main product?

If you want anything to go viral (and trust me, it is tough) what you are putting out there needs to be UNIQUE it needs to be like NOTHING ELSE. If you can manage that one, you have a chance at getting that site to go viral.

Yes, you are 100% right, but what's about traffic from that kind of sites? If you look at the examples in my first post, you can see that these websites are not services and just made for fun, can such kind of traffic be useful to promote your main product?

Well you can make it interactive. Like with a viral video for Snickers bars you can have people submit emails to win a month's supply of Snickers or something.

Please stop making self-promotional posts. It wastes your time post them and ours deleting them

Yes, that's a pretty good idea. Thank you.

Getting things to go viral just for the sake of it isn't the greatest strategy.

But If you are creating great content that is relevant and entertaining to your market then there is a good chance of these going viral and at the same time possibly bringing in customers and/or backlinks.

For example if I was in the "sales video production" niche (which I am,) and I started to produce great videos that where amazingly entertaining and at the same time showed people how to increase their conversion rates then their is a good chance of that going viral within the Im community, and at the same time bringing in clients and/or relevant and high pr backlinks.

However If I start to post funny cat videos there is an even greater chance of this going viral but far less chance of me getting a client and relevant backlinks.

So to sumerise you need to have a reason and a goal for why you want things to go viral.

    Hope this Helps, Peter

Your example really makes sense! Thank you. I'll definitely remember that.
