Why do sellers post the number of sales they made in the ad title?

Hi everyone
(newbie here)...Why do sellers post the number of sales they made in the ad title? Noticed this done in the Warrior Special Offers section. Is this some marketing tactic to hype up a product?

Looking forward to your feedback
Tee

It usually helps the buyer to make a discussion if they feel comfortable that the seller has complete a few sales than the buyer is more likely going to buy from them!

It's a form of social proof to show how popular a product is.

But they never mention the refund rate... hmm..

    Hi Tee,

It provides social proof to potential buyers that it is a popular product and encourages people to click on the thread to find out why so many people are buying it and then they buy it too.

It's a good marketing tactic to encourage people to click on the link and join the crowd.

    All the best

    Jason

It's a simple method to "prove" that their product is very popular.

This technique has been around for eons. I'm sure you must have seen ads on TV or in magazines where they say something along the lines of:

Over 1 million satisfied customers have bought X!

Yes, it is likely to tell people "Hey... X number of people like this product... You should jump on this too". It's to show that it is popular.

They like to boast, simple as that.

I respectfully disagree, most sellers know that every word of sales copy is used for a specific purpose and is geared towards making the sale. Blatant ego isn't a good way to motivate prospects unless it causes pain, and even then it's risky.

Yup, its a 'social proof" of how popular the product is and why YOU should join in as well to add to that number :-)

Yup, for the most part it helps the customer feel SAFE in the purchase of the product because a whole flock of people already bought it.

Would you buy candy from the shady guy in the alley or the guy in the middle of the mall?

    That's my take on it.
