I am interested in starting a website about a specific genre of electronic music. Maybe a blog about new releases and reviews and my music recommendations. (everything legal, no filesharing)

How can I make money from such a website?

  • I remember coming across a couple of affiliate products on Clickbank a while back for software to help you make and mix music. One of them was called "dub"-something or something-"dub." That would probably fit pretty good with your niche.

I'm quessing a lot of people that are fans of your specific genre of electronic music are also in to making music with their computer. If this is the case you can sell refill packs and vst packs and stuff like that. Or you can even create a video course on how to create this type of music with your computer etc.

    Hope this helps, Peter

    Hi there,

If you make your CONTENT absolutely great, that includes music AND articles, then chances are you will attract a lot of people to come and visit with you and read.

Once they're hooked on your site's experience - they become potential customers.

You can do either or both of the following - and more:

    - Have RELATED affiliate product ads which they can click on. Ideally, let that be something relating to the music or article you've written, and you might even briefly mention that this ad you placed on that page is a really cool product which you HAVE TRIED (and might even direct them to a review page where you explain what and how). If they TRUST your judgment and NEED the product - you'll make some sales. Track your conversion rates to gauge how effective your conversion strategy is.

    - You can also make a newsletter to which they sign up and then occasionally send them free goodies (nothing BS and boring), and now and then have some HIGHLY RECOMMENDED offers. Just make sure that they really ARE good products. They can be any kind of affiliate offers or CPA - or whatever you like. As long as your reputation ensures that your visitors will be inclined to buy BECAUSE of your recommendation.

    - You can also have AdSense or other similar ads on your pages, but you'll need to set them up so that they only display RELEVANT ads, strictly related to your content. And don't over-do the number of ad modules per page.

With MUSIC, you have lots of excellent books both on Amazon and elsewhere, also many music shops and companies have affiliate programs. So this could be a "natural" thing to sell. You could also deliver a FREE monthly report to your subscribers about what's hot and what's not.

Ultimately, music - like any niche - can be incredibly profitable if your site is HOT. The more heart you pour into it, the more you will be respected and the more sales you will make.

    Hope this helps paul
