I know this isn't a general help forum...

... and I just moaned about this the other day. But I'm about to go nuts.

I have configured Paypal to automatically add a buy to a list in aweber. Problem is the buyer is having to confirm their opt-in, which I don't want.

Not because of anything sneaky, I just think it's stupid they have to confirm before getting their product.

I have the list set up as not being a double opt-in, and for the life of me I can't figure it out.

If anyone can help it would be awesome.

Not 100% sure, but isn't a double opt-in required legally?

BTW I'm a fellow Packer fan, can't believe they lost!

Pretty sure the law is different when they are a buying customer. I mean I get emails from people all the time that buy stuff from, and I sure as heck didn't sign up for it.

Double opt in is not even required by canspam. Most of the bigger marketers use single opt in. Just had a rather lengthy discussion with the affiliate manager at Get Response today on the subject and he really made some good points for using both in different situations.

Yeah, I didn't want to turn this into a can-spam thread. I use single opt-in only now. But why in the world is aweber making a paying customer (they know they're coming from paypal) confirm a subscription. I can't figure it out and it's driving me batty.

I can see how that could really upset a customer. Have you ask their help desk?

I am sure there are variables in deliverability I have no idea of. At the end of the day awebber must make decisions that they feel best for their company but sometimes they seem overly arrogant to me.

They're closed. I'm calling first thing in the morning. It's crazy to me, but maybe I'm missing something. Hell I don't know. It's late and I need sleep. Maybe user error!

I dumped Aweber for this very reason. I found you could set it for single optin but even set that way it still did the double thingy. Someone here posted that there was a trick to getting single optin to work but I'm an old dog and didn't want to learn the trick...

My single opt-in regular form seem to work fine. It's the automatic add from paypal that's driving me bonkers. I'll call their support tomorrow and see what's up.

Not my week. Bout a very expensive membership plugin that looks like it was developed in 1998, it sucked, had to return it, spent like 8 hours getting a huge sales page ready for a launch, and now the flippin paypal integration is going to screw that up.

Oh well, there's always hookers and blow I guess.
