I just landed my 1st "client"!

Hello All!

I just landed my 1st potential client doing website design.

Since I am not a "techie", I will be using wordpress templates as the basis for the website.

Which, if any designs are free but also customizable to include possible logos and other detail.

The client has asked me to give him/her some prior work done but this is my first job - Remember: I am using wordpress as templates.

Thanks for the responses.

All the best.

I think you need to do a trial run, designing a website for yourself, maybe. You can put all your skill into it and then use it as a showpiece or even to promote your services.

I've built about 30 simple sites using WP ... It started just because I made a site for myself, then a friend or two (just for fun and the experience of it).

It would serve you to make a site for yourself, first. It could be something you could mess with, break (unlikely unless you tangle in parts you have no business being in! lol) ... and use for trial and error.

You need to spend a little time in the dashboard of WP... so much can be done in there to easily do most of the things you need to do.

I went out with a friend for sushi 3 days ago - and while we were out, I set up a new hosting account for her and registered a domain she wanted. (this one was just a gift for her - she is making a site for her parent's business as a surprise for them) ....

Anyway... she's totally a noob to WP... but she managed to get a very nice picture up on the site and make content for the home page - without any help. (and remember, she's the customer)

How the heck are you going to provide a good work (you know, a car that doesn't lose brakes...) if you don't have any past experience?

Dude, I am here hoping you have at the very least some education on marketing...

WP is a very easy to work with & customize script.
I've built more WP sites than I can remember in the last few years.
I suggest you buy a simple .info domain name & find a free host. build WP sites on as many subdomains as you possibly can & you'll become a "guru" in no time.
A basic html knowledge would help you a great deal in customizing free themes to look like premium ones.
Thats how I mastered WP designs

did you upsell him or then downsell him your upsell.

or even upsell your upsell. LOL. well, sorry to get too technical. The opportunities are endless, once you have a buyer.

    Never ever forget that.
