Want to kill your email deliverability? Here's two easy ways ...

(1) Change your "from" email address after your subscriber has whitelisted the first email, and

(2) Fail to set up an SPF record on the domain name you use in your "from" address identifying the server you mail from, such as aWeber, as being an authorized sender for you.

I was just going through my spam this morning and saw probably a dozen or so emails from lists I had subscribed to who were being blocked, either because they changed the "from" address they were using or because my server had received a bounced notification, meaning that they were possibly using an incorrect "from" address.

You can control your "from" address very easily, so if you change the from address in your autoresponder series, then you shouldn't be surprised to see your deliverability drop off in this age of whitelisting and spam blocking.

You can easily set up an SPF (Sender Policy Framework) file on your server, or have your hosting tech support do it, showing that your autoresponder (aWeber, GetResponse, etc.) service is authorized to send out email using your email address. Don't do it and you're likely to get thrown in the Spam folder when the recipients local isp checks your email headers and tries to verify it with your server or host.

Okay, that's it. You're on your own now.
