How Not to Ask for Backlinks

I just deleted this private message:

I am interested in purchasing a backlink on your law website. Please provide the URL so I can verify the PR.
How can one be interested in buying a backlink on my site if they do not even know the URL?

I do have several sites where I sell backlinks, but most people make a request after reviewing the site.

Additional tips:

- Be a forum member for more than a week before making requests like this.

- Your website you want me to link to should be quality.

Consider that I have some 10+ year old sites with good PR and top rankings.

Your site should not have been registered just a couple days ago, have typos, etc.

    Great advice!

    Its pretty impressive to see how some people go about attempting to get links in this manner.

    It goes to show that some people have not been guided on how to get stuff done the right way!

    I guess this used to work some time back ... but after the panda stuff , and related links only getting values, it take more detailed study and understanding than throwing in some unrelated backlinks, esp with social media getting more leverage in getting top rankings.

    What a cheek - "so I can verify the PR"!!

    That reminds me of an email I had recently. Long story short - their email was headed "poor position report for yourtownbedandbreakfast (dot) com

    I replied that I had no confidence in their proposed seo services as my site had been no1 in Google for its keyword for 2 years.

    Their reply????

    "What's your keyword"

    EEEEEpic fail. Delete.
