Can you scare clients away by being too eager?

Okay so I have like three clients on this one freelancing site who have gone 100% unresponsive over the past three days. no e-mail. no skype. no communications through the site's internal messaging system. I am absolutely lost as to why they would stop talking to me and risk misunderstandings in their work. The only thing I think I might have done wrong was sending a few too many messages trying to get a hold of them. But like, they've already paid me, so would it really make sense for them to act all stand offish over something like that?

I think they feel they've already communicated what they want. Once the deadline passes and they don't see their work, you can be sure you won't have to go through much to hear from them...they'll be calling you.

To answer your question, I don't know if you can scare clients away by being too eager. Too eager does not sound really professional though so it might make them wonder.

Just keep writing since they've already paid you and send them their work when you're done. They are your clients not your best friends. Be polite, cordial and when the time comes to deliver, overdeliver.

In your situation I would not worry too much you say they have paid you already, now it depends on what they have paid you for and have you delivered to agreed timescales. If you waiting for information you need to complete the job then that is the responsibility of the client.
as for coming across as too eager there is no harm to trying to contact them to deliver the project but if they were prospects yes you would be too eager ( or even sounding desperate)
Do remember you may be dealing with people who have jobs or other businesses that take up their time and you may not be at the top of their priority list.

Thanks for the advice. Really puts things into perspective.

I should make one clarification though because when I said "they already paid," that was just sliiiiiightly inaccurate.

The situation is, the money is there for me to bill in an hourly system. The site guarantees money this way, so as of now, the hours are there for me to bill. When I bill them, there is no question as to whether or not I will be paid; it's there in escrow, and will be withdrawn by the site when I bill it.

How long have they been clients of yours? Are you using escrow.com to collect your payments?

its always good to give your clients good customer service. they're not going to complain that you're trying to contact them too much if they have already paid you. there could be many reasons why they are not replying to you. they could just be busy. if they don't respond after multiply contacts, i would just let it be. you've done your job
