If you have traffic, but it is not targetted, what type of site would you direct the traffic to? Or, in other words, what type of sites do you think the general public would be interested in?

I'm thinking of the following categories:

- humor
- celebrities
- music

Any input would be appreciated.
#traffic #untargetted

Music of course, but you can get target traffic using Article Marketer, just write a couple of articles every day and use your website url in the article.

Untargetted traffic has never been a good investment for me.
Most of this traffic is not "searching" for anything - at all.

I would suggest entertainment sites. Games, videos, music, whatever.

Then sign up to a nice paying CPM ad service and you're gold.

Just thinking of an idea that may get me some pretty untargetted traffic, and considering if it is worth a try.

Don't waste your time building a business on untargetted traffic.

Spend some time working out how you can bring targeted traffic to something of value instead.

I tend to agree with the concept that it does not really make sense to build a site where the traffic stream is untargeted, it will be difficult to convert.

What exactly is "untargeted traffic? It seems to me that if you build a music site, you are still targeting folks, albeit in a broad sense. And I imagine that if you build a page that is "country", then you are building a page targeted for people who like country music. If you build a sub page on Earl Cambell, then you are targeting people who like Earl Cambell...follow me here?

My biggest question to the original poster is simple: What are you trying to achieve?

I agree with a few of the others that untargeted traffic is largely a waste of time. This can be said for anything that's "untargeted".

My motto is "if I can't monetize it, then I ain't doing it".

                  Hey man,

If you do happen to have untargetted traffic, put up some generic CPA stuff like ringtones, free laptop ads etc. You may make some coin like that.

On the other hand though, it's not really worth building up anything with untargetted stuff, so don't dedicate your business to it or anything...

                  Hope that helps

Music is always a great one for starters...but try out different causes, ones that you yourself are interrested in. Those help out a lot because people will b e interrested in what you have to say.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

This question was simply due to an idea I had to get free untargetted traffic, and I was thinking of ways to monetize such traffic. But I realized that I still need to work to get that traffic. And my time would probably be better spent going after targetted traffic.

But targetted traffic is much more difficult to get than untargetted traffic, which was why I was attracted to the idea in the first place.

I'm still looking for the easy way out!

Anyway, enough rambling. I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and do whatever it takes to be successful in this business.
