DMOZ has become somewhat infamous for its slower-than-molasses approvals. If you've already applied, there's nothing more you can do. If they approve you down the road, great. If not, oh well.

I applied for DMOZ a year or so ago, and totally forgot about it. A few months later, I got approved. In the meantime, though, I definitely wasn't losing any sleep over it

Don't worry about it - it's a waste of time anyway.

10 years ago it was worth doing, but not anymore.

Just do it and forget about it.

      +1.

You'll get a lot more traffic by using other methods.

yep useless to invest more time, energy and emotions over it, it’s not the end of the world if your website isn’t included in DMOZ, as there are plenty of other great linking opportunities on the Web.

    • People used to think the future resided in creating directory sites.

That's where the magic of DMOZ came in. Free information, freely available, anyone could scrape the listings and set up their own specialized directory. There were tens of thousands of directories. If you had one, the hope was that people would flock to it and click on your ads all day long.

Of course, like all web fads, the directory site died.

DMOZ is over. Has been for years.
