    1) Social networking websites like reddit. Basicly instant traffic if it proves popular and ranked highly.

    2) Adwords for low competative relevent keywords. You could also use facebook as they can be cheaper.

There are lots of way you can do this, but the best way is to get targeted leads, or those who are the most likely to buy.

Also you need to go to the places where your most likely customer is hanging out, i.e. forums and blogs and other communities.

    Here are some individual tips.

    PPC
    articles
    JV's
    Syndication
    Press releases
    CPA
    blog commenting
    SEO
    blogging every day
create a product and give away 100% commision
stomp in the sand at the beach all day with thongs (which have your website cleverly carved into them)

There that will get you started.

Press release and backlinks to relevant sites (other backlinks work too). Oh yeah, a whole lot of patience.

For a brand new website i would recommend directory submission. Choose the biggest or most popular one. For example; yahoo directory.

To improve your Page Rank you need lots of Content and even more Backlinks.

Spinblitz will create unlimited articles ( they have a Free Trial ) and if you have Wordpress blogs there are automated posting functions. Check out > http://spinblitz.com/

Lot's of backlinks, but don't waste your $$$ on the wrong kind of backlinks - They won't work.

Since the Google "Panda" update a lot has changed.

Google has moved the playing field and simple text links are almost counter productive, Pyramid linkbuilding is no longer worth the effort but Contextual Links will get you an almost immediate SERPS improvement.

Most of the backlinks you will be offered today will be either, simple text on blog profiles or blog comments.

Tens of thousands of both can be done in 24hrs using Scrapebox, and because of that Google is now giving simple text links less weight in SERPS.

If you watch the latest video by Matt Cutts, Google's own guru, you will learn that contextual backlinks now have the most value.

Contextual backlinks are links placed inside an article or blog post that are in the context of their surrounding text, so they look natural.

For example an article on firefighting might have links to a firestation URL. These are quite time consuming to create and invariably need an image to get maximum Google juice.

For anyone planning to create backlinks I recommend you to take 3 minutes to watch the Matt Cutts video on http://autoseosystem.com

If you recognise the change he speaks about. then afterwards use their FREE software to create some contextual articles embedded with your own URL.

The primary thing that will draw people to your website is quality unique content. This content can be placed in several locations to draw people back to your website. Two excellent techniques are:

Article marketing including a resource box with your URL, contextual link and a reason to visit your site like a free report. Submit these articles to article directories and also include on your own blog.

Commenting on blogs and forums- Find a blog or forum in your own niche with high traffic and make a quality post (also use the same resource box technique as described above for articles) To be more effective initially post without a resource box but then later include this resource box in your posts. Always check the rules regarding posting to that blog or forum.

try to build backlinks. You can begin with requesting backlinks from the sites owned by your friends or relatives. It will also be good to write some guest posts in blogs related to your site to get backlinks as well as traffic. Google "My Blog guest" - first site is good for guest blogging .

I promote my websites through as much classic forms of advertising as I can within my budget and using social media, mostly forums. No, I don't spam forums or anything like that but I can find forums where people talk about something in which my business is related. I bring if it up briefly, answer questions, and then see what I can do about actually advertising on that website. I often stay a member and talk about stuff completely unrelated. One of my favorite forums is an Arizona Honda Car forum and I haven't owned a Honda in probably 6 years.

Below mentioned points can be followed while optimizing a new website :

Keyword Research - Target the keywords related to the niche of the website.

Site Categories - Use appropriate categories for the website pages

Website directory structure - Target specific keywords for pages on directory structure.

File names: The File names need to be inclined towards the targeted keywords.

Titles, Metatags - Meta Description, Meta Keywords tags: Put these tags on your webpage so that the crawlers can easily understand about your website.

Sitemaps: There are two types of Sitemaps that should be used for any new website. These are Sitemap.html within a website and the other one is Google Sitemap as Sitemap.xml in

xml format. The xml based sitemap can be generated using any of the available online sitemap generating tool. Sitemap.html page will have only links with all the inner pages of

    a website.

Body Content - Positioning Body Content on a web page: Here, it is better to understand a little bit about how a search engine spider sees a web page while scanning it. Search

engines read pages like we do, from top to bottom. It also assumes that the content near the top of the page is more important than the content at the bottom of the page.

While Coding Web Pages: While coding WebPages for a website, calling external CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be used to minimize the amount of code on WebPages and is

    beneficial website optimization process.

Back Links: Last but not the least! this is one of the most important factors that many of the Search Engines consider to weigh a website.
    1. Submit your site to web directories
    2. Submit Press Releases to PR sites
    3. Social Marketing
    4. Blogs
    5. Social Media Optmization

Whenever you launch a new site you should do a press release with a link to your site. This gets your site noticed by by people who can help spread the word. Just make sure you write the release to be informative and not a sales pitch.

$40 won't buy you a lot, so you need to drill down and make sure your advertising is super targeted. Facebook advertising aimed at people who fit your target market profile would probably be better value for money than AdWords IMHO.

The thing is, it's best to have several ways of getting traffic, and use them all.

I would start with making sure your site is totally SEO optimized and that you are adding new content every few days. Then I would go with press releases first. These tend to get syndicated and will up your backlinks in a natural way. This is always a good way to get google to notice you without penalizing you.

    1) As always, it depends on the niche/purpose. One way I like to use is putting a signature link in a forum profile and then contributing on popular forum websites around that niche. If you have a budget, doing small media buys would work well. Look for good deals on websites like BuySellAds.com.

    2) Again, depends on niche. For some affiliate websites, Facebook can be decent but it really depends on the niche. Plenty of Fish is good for dating websites. 7search is a decent Adwords alternative that are more lenient than Google for affiliate offers.

    1. If you are asking for one way to stick to then I advice you to test different ones and see which one is working for you. Forums, blogs, social media, article marketing and video marketing all are proved to be very effective. Let's say that article submission gives you the major part of traffic then you should sign up to more article directories and learn how to write effective articles or even hire someone to write them for you. I do not advice you to run one type of marketing unless you know this exact type is the best.

    2. For a low budget Facebook PPC is good but you need to read more about it before proceeding to pay a penny. Any PPC marketing campaign can be very successful and can waste all your money so make sure you are ready and specific first.

    John,

Some great information in this thread..

I will make this short and sweet (well maybe) LOL

First I “personally” wouldn’t spend any money on paid advertising right for the bat..

Next, I agree with a few of the other posters. (Forums, blogs, social media (FB)) should be your starting line..

I want to add a nice little TIP to that mix. If your in a niche with a lot of “happenings” going on..

My added ingredient is “Google Alerts” AWESOME for finding blogs and forums.. The moment someone posts a blog post or “news” happens in your niche you get an alert via text or you can feed it into Google’s reader.

If you’re the 1st or the top few to post a “helpful and constructive” comment with your link back to your site it will serve 2 purposes. !. You get a good backlink from a relevant blog and 2. You might get an opportunity for a lead or sale.

My take I wouldn’t spend any money till you have about 100 or so people go through your sales funnel.. J

Hope this helps and makes sense.

    Eddie

Just and FYI on guest blogging.. Is when you write and article for someone else’s blog with a few links within the article that will point back to your site..

I have seen forums, blog commenting and social networks do lots of wonders for my own blogs. Hi,
I’ve been building quite few of sites recently, both personally and client related. In this time I’ve observed quite a few strategies that are key to helping a site grow from scratch. Traffic is usually what the success of a website lies on, so you need to know how to build traffic as effectively as possible. Luckily, over the last 2 months I’ve helped launch over 4 sites and quickly drive them to large amounts of relevant traffic and lots of feed subscribers. With this in mind, I wanted to put together a selection of what I’ve learned; this isn’t going to be ground-breaking and you might know some of it, but putting them all in one place should make for this useful resource.
    1.Utilise my BlogLog.
    2.Register on Twitter.
    3.Sign-up to Gravatar.
    4.Register on Stumble upon.
    5.Start leaving comments.

For question one, you can do a whole lot. Why don't you try out search engine optimization? Read up on the latest techniques to get your website to rank as high as possible on Google for a particular keyword. You stand the chance of getting maximum long term traffic this way.

Also, you can use social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook to gain the following of people interested in your niche. Get them to like your websites Facebook page, and soon enough they could become regulars on your website if you continue to post exciting content on both your Facebook page as well as your website.

Very little ppc, article marketing, forum marketing (like warrior forum signature advertising), advertising on high traffic websites, Youtube marketing, podcasting, and social media.

Q: What is the best online paid advertising method for affiliate websites (Budget: US$40) ?

Not sure if i understand your question, but if i'm thinking what you're thinking... you should invest in advertising on a blog related to what your affiliate product is all about. If not that, then run ezine ads from non-rival publishers in your niche.

Article marketing i must say can be an immediate source of converting traffic . Write good content and submit it to various article directories. People love to read and follow good content , says my experience.

As about paid advertising , i havn't used it much though as i basically rely on SEO. However you should start with adwords at first. If you have created a new adwords account just look for some promotional coupons and test your campaigns for success and conversions. All other forms of PPC i must sat are BS.

right off the bat i would say getting involved with your niche. by that i mean, blog commenting, forums and having a blog of your own. also on your site have a newsletter signup area. once you get visitors email addresses you'll be able to keep in touch with them and build rapport.

after that, kick it up a notch with ppc adv.
