Be Careful About New Reputation Fix Products

EXCLUSIVE: Online Reputation Manager Hacked Websites To 'inject' Illegal Code | Fox News

This sounds like a good business to be in - helping people fix their reputation. But it has to be done in the best way. The above is the wrong way.

Bloomberg Businessweek had several GOOD reputation mgt examples, which I wrote about here: Making Money Online – Do You Think Big or Small?

I have heard a lot about this niche as a business idea and I think it's GREAT - just be careful of the methods you use.

Yikes. Thanks for the heads up, Tiffany. What a nightmare for those customers who apparently already have enough problems.

With current state of business and companies these days, i'd have to agree, this seems lucrative. But the thing is, most businesses go on bad reputation because they don't have enough money to ensure good service, so how are you going about getting paid? and how would you define reputation restoring? more sales, better feedback, other?

You wont be expecting much at the start since they might not have much, yet if you restored some of their reputation they might argue that it used to be better and that you still need to do more, ignoring the current economical situation!

Unless you are working on a well defined terms of service or getting prepaid for your services, this seems to be more like a headache than a money maker!

    What do you think?

I'd go after companies with a profit already - not start-ups who wouldn't even have a reputation to speak of - (meaning more than they can handle volume-wise) and if they care about rebuilding their profits, they'd pay for the service to clean up the negatives.

I would measure it by overall feedback online - forum chatter, Twitter comments, etc. Some people in my blog post teach the company THEMSELVES to act better and cultivate a better reputation. So they're like a coach.

Others wade in knee deep into a pile of poo to clean up forum trash that offends real customers and makes them not want to participate.

In fact I heard a radio commercial today for a company that promises to erase your history on the web or clear your company of any bad marks on the web.
