Getting Clicks, No Sales

Hey guys, this is my first post to the forum. I'm glad I can get advice on how to improve my marketing efforts.

I currently have a website that I use to feature items on clearance that I find have good value (i.e good price, ratings, etc...). I use social media and other sites to help drive traffic to the website.

On the website, I have a button that says "take me to the deal" which has the affiliate link inside. I have been getting a steady stream of clicks lately on the items I am featuring but for some reason I am not getting any sales.

Does anyone know what might be the key problem? The reason I am confused is because my site has most of the product information on the page. So why would they click the button, only to not buy anything?

That is a concern I have been having. I tend to find the merchants have solid enough pages that they should convert. I have had success with them in the past.

has to do with alot of things,

    Your copy,

    your offer,

and the traffic you are getting.

Which one do you feel should be getting the most focus? Will it simply have to be variable testing?

depends on the merchants site. Your site can be finely tuned to drive traffic to a merchant site but if their site does not look reputable, they will leave

While a lot of this depends upon how targeted your traffic is. Your site could also use some polish, in my opinion. While everything is above the fold, there isn't a whole lot of content. It just doesn't come off like a review site. I'm just not quite sure what it is.

Good job in doing something though! Many people don't do a thing but you have made your first step in trying to make some money online.

How much traffic are you getting and where is this traffic coming from... what are they looking for?

You are right, the site needs polish. In fact I met with a web designer today to talk about how to make it look more professional.

The website isn't so much a review site as it's meant to be a portal. The idea is that these items are good they are just buried. No one knows about them. So my goal is to bring them to light.

The traffic averages around 3 to 4k visits in a month. I get them from posting links on social media and high traffic sites like reddit, imdb, craigslist, and other forums.

Are you warming up your prospects to a sale, giving them enough information so they are actually looking forward to buy from you, due to the fact you have given enough useful content already.

Also can you please ensure is the traffic targetted to your offer or a very random general traffic, that can make all the difference?

Finally do you have a free report or content to give away once they opt in, that way you can lead them to buying from you after a few auto responder messages !!

It's hard to tell. Some get more than others depending on how attractive the deal is and how much traffic is flowing on that given day.

I would say though that on any given solid product offer it gets around 20 clicks. Assuming that any good affiliate marketer worth his weight should be able to hit a 5%-10% conversion. So you would think I could get at least 1 sale.

Have you been getting conversions and it just halted... or you just aren't getting conversions?

If they halted you may want to check your links and make sure they are still "your" links. Also check from a differnet computer and make sure it redirects properly.

If you never got conversions then it is probably your site, offer, copy, traffic, etc...

Right, its a bit hard to tell. but it depends on the venua... Conversion can be way less and most of the time it is indeed way less than 2%! for example, on Clickbank it's like 1% - 2%, it's Hardly 5 to 10%, so this is normal.

If you are on a CPA, they sometime shave profits, or halt them till they verify your traffic, so it might be worth checking with them

As the thetrafficguy said, if you suddenly stopped receiving, then check your links. if you aren't making any at all, it might the offer, site, bad days,.. etc. this isn't necessarily your fault, sometimes the landing page of the offer is not appealing to customers!

Good Luck with your future efforts

I'm going to be blunt. You're going in the right direction, but...

One thing I would recommend is to decide who you are targeting as your audience.

I've never used a tablet in my life. Are you writing to a beginner like me? Then you'll have to write your content in a way that explains what a table is, the advantage of a tablet and why I should buy one.

Are you writing to people who are already tech geeks and love tablets? Then you would write to them a little differently than you would write to me. You wouldn't have to explain as much to them, but you would point out all the cool stuff on the tablet they'd be interested in knowing about.

The video you have simply shows you tapping at the tablet, but that doesn't necessarily mean the audience knows what to look for. They're watching you do something, but are you pointing out anything to them?

Look at the unboxing videos you see about cell phones and see how those people talk about the electronic product. You could do something similar.

So decide on which type of audience you want to aim for, and put a few bullet points down that highlight the benefits of the product.

Benefits like: it's faster than iPad, the apps are cheaper, etc.

While you might like the tablet and want to buy it today, other people may not see what you're seeing. So you'll have to convince them why it would be worth buying.

You've got quite a bit of traffic which is already good, but pre-sell this product. Explain to your target audience why it's worth buying.

You may actually be right. When I first started I used to do all sales through a blog where I would write sales copy. I had higher conversions through the blog. Then when I switched to the site, it dropped off. it could very well be because I replaced the sales copy with videos. If I want to keep doing videos I should, but I should do a better job of sales copy inside them like you suggested.

if they read you page then click to go to the item then its nothing to do with your page as you done you job correct!

It must be down to the item/offer.
