I had a conversation with a business woman recently, who is a battle hardened telemarketing business owner. She was telling me women don't trust women especially when it comes to buying things! So - Do women trust women? Silly question: Yes| Sexist: Yes| A complete utter disgusting generalization: Yes| Is there any truth to her statement: I'm not sure. What do you think? Anyone A/B split tested a copy with a female / male persona (when you know that most visitors are women)? |

Try gathering borderline useless data like wordpress vs blogger. Or make your OP look like a rewrite of an article you sent to ezinearticles.com, maybe then you'll get more replies (though they'll just be pats on the back from people pimping their sites in their signature).

Honestly, I trust women probably more so than Men. Men can be Dogs and will sometimes lie and cheat at the drop of a Hat !! But I will have to say that women are so much more Materialistic and money hungry than Men for the most part !! Like greedy little snakes. ![]() They will think nothing of spending their whole paychecks at Macy's !! So there you have it we are dealing with Snakes and Dogs in this World !! Iam an equal opportunity insulter |

I'm not really sure in what context she was referring. Why wouldn't women trust her? Perhaps it's just her personal experience alone I don't think her opinion is representative of the entire female population. I trust women as equally much as I trust men when purchasing something. |

Actually, I have an easier time trusting women but I never look at someone as a "male" or "female" in terms of trust. I try to go by experience with that individual.

Whether a male or female spokesperson is going to inspire more trust in your target audience depends on SO many more factors than the gender of the spokesperson! It depends on the audience, the product, and the individual spokesperson's voice and demeanor. As with anything else, theory is useless. TEST TEST TEST! |

| This is exactly how I feel when it comes to trust. Regardless of gender. Makes some situations very difficult but I'm learning. Especially, when it comes to buying or not buying products.

| I'd rather trust people than be on guard all the time. However I suppose it depends on the depth of trust we're talking about. I've been let down many times but I still trust people. Because I think most people are reasonably trustworthy. And I agree that it doesn't matter whether they're male or female. For me there's no correlation between trustworthiness and gender.

Well, into the minefield I go! Here's my answer... Some of the above answers may have been an attempt at humor, but for me, they miss the mark. No big deal. As far as trust goes, everyone I meet has my trust and respect and they have to work to LOSE it. Other people are just the opposite. They don't trust or respect anybody, until that person WINS it. I can't imagine going through life like that. I could care less if the person is male or female. The original post asks about testing with a male/female ersona, and that's exactly why it doesn't matter. Online, there's no way to tell for sure what the real gender of someone is. I suppose certain products would do better with a certain gender promoting them, but those would be the exception, not the rule. All the best, Michael |

Looks like we were typing our replies at the same time. If you go thorugh life not trusting or respecting people, then people will not treat you with trust and respect. In effect, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. ~Michael

It also goes to the fact that some believe that women think with their emotions. They make decisions based on them. If a women doesn't like you, she'll tell you that ugly outfit is the "real you" - not sure if it applies when the "you" is a male. Other times, women will disguise their true feelings and tell another women she looks great to avoid hurting the person's feelings. Most likely, she will be more honest with a man in such a situation. On other occasions, a woman's advice can be invaluable, as when she gives you a tip on a great bargain at the local shop. My question to you is, why do you need to know whether women can be trusted? First off, it's a generalized statement that really has no true answer because it depends on the circumstances and the people involved... as it does between men and between opposite sexes. Sylvia

| Yeah excellent point Michael. I've also noticed that when you have good expectations people will often want to live up to them. And I think that trusting people is the best way to go through life. Recently I lost my passport on the street and someone picked it up and mailed it to me which I thought was pretty cool.

I think that we tend to know more about our own sex and are able to make a better judgment of character when it comes to one of our own as opposed to the opposite sex. If I have a harder time telling when a woman is lying to me I am probably more inclined to trust her more than a man since I already know most of the games men play. And the ole' vice a versa. Just a thought |

I don't think you should trust a woman just because she's a woman. A lot of people do this and it's a mistake. Trust nobody until they are proven trust worthy, adhere to the safe side just in case. Sonni |
