Do you need a credit card to get a website?

Hi.

I currently have a WordPress blog, and I really want to turn it into a self hosted website.

I also have a bunch of other projects coming up that I will ultimately need to create websites for.

The thing is, I don't have a credit card. My only payment method is paypal and my bank. Can I use these to pay for a domain name and hosting? Or do I need a credit card?

Thanks,

Andy

Godaddy will accept paypal. As will hostgator.

So if you use those you should be all set.

I didn't see a hosting or domain name registrars who don't accept PayPal. But you will see at the end of the order check out.

In some instances you may really need a credit or debit card. But as long as your bank account accepts online payments, you can also use it.

And I just wonder, how can you pay through PayPal if you don't have a credit or debit card linked to it?

You can work with PayPal for buying domains and hosting.
The one other thing that you may need is an auto responder
now here Aweber only accepts credit cards but you could go
with imnica mail who accept PayPal.

I personally recommend getting a debit card and one that you can add additional funds to easily. Walmart has one that you can just go to the store and add funds to it anytime you want.
Only use this card for your hosting and other expenses related to your business. Keep track of your recurring monthly expenses and always make sure your card has enough on it to cover these expenses.
I find it easier this way and there are times that you may need to buy something and they don't except PayPal.

Paypal with bank account attach is work fine if you buy a domain name from Godaddy and for hosting hostgator, but if you need credit card or debit card you can get it in a matter of hour just use "entropay" services it is a virtual visa card.
