Google's "Anti-Sopa" stance to not censor the internet?

I find it hilarious that Google is taking a stand against SOPA, stating "Millions of Americans oppose SOPA and PIPA because these bills would censor the Internet and slow economic growth in the U.S.". (source: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/)

Last time I checked, Google censors millions of web pages everyday. Oh the irony.

Google likes to be the one calling the shots, and not being at the mercy of ours.

If it ever passed, Google would be finished. Youtube would go under and Google+ would be a nightmare. They would lose so much money, but then, again a lot people would. Google has the most to lose.

Google is a private business. Big difference between a private business making their own rules and a government making laws that could cause good people to be declared criminals, just because they link to a page that could contain links to a page that may or may not have broken the law.

Google's self interest was at stake as well - since the government could enforce search engines to take out search results to black listed sites ; and if they didn't Google could be held civil and criminally liable.

Which is completely opposite of current case law and other laws for companies like Google, ISPs, Hosting firms, and Telecom companies. IE - a telephone company can not be charged as an accessory for allowing bank robbers to coordinate over the phone - its a type of safe harbor provision which SOPA would have taken away from search engines, name registrars and hosting companies. Not sure about Network firms and various NAPs across the country.

The Hypocrisy of Google, They are against SOPA/PIPA, yet the "Google Slap" is exactly what that is.... Hypocrites

my adwords account, ALL OF THEM, are banned because I was advertising a website that doesn't adhere to their policy. So I stop advertising the website, and they tell me, I have to take down the website before I can ever use adwords again. So now they are telling me what kind of website I can and can't own. But heres the thing, i don't own the website, it's an affiliate website that someone else owns, and they obviously won't take it down. So now, I can never use Adwords. Whats even worse is that the ad that banned my account wasn't even active. It was from 2 years ago, and they told me, becuz it was once active, even if it was 2 years ago, I have to remove the website the ad was directing to before i can advertise with Adwords again, so yes, google is trying to tell me what kind of website i can and can't own, or else face blacklisting from their adwords. And that is my Google Adwords rant

      wow....

Sorry to hear about your troubles....

Look on the bright side... you probably still get to use other Google features, like G+, gmail, google maps, google docs.........etc.

      At least it's just adwords.

There are other advertisers still out there you can use.

When they start blocking your IP address from Google search, and close down your access to all Google owned products - then you'll really be blacklisted.

So, for now - count blessings?
