Free ebook for opt-in problem with autoresponder

Hi all,
I may just be coping badly with zero alcohol in my bloodstream lately, but I just can't seem to figure out how to set up an autoresponder to send a free ebook when someone opts in....
I am trying on MailChimp and ListWire (am not using Aweber at all)

Can anyone offer a solution? I'd obviously like it as consumer friendly as possible...

Thanks
Dave

    Hi Dave,
I haven't done this exact process before, but I've successfully used Mozilla Thunderbird as an AutoResponder.

You can create a Template Message with the eBook attached.
And set the exact incoming title of the Opt-in Message.

So, when Thunderbird reads the message:
"Opt-in - I would like your Free ebook",
It will know to send the ebook response anytime it sees that exact message.

Of course though, your online submission form would need to be sending a message with that exact Title.

So that's basically what I recommend, I'm pretty sure it will work.
I use Thunderbird's Autoresponder to deal with 100's of requests from my submission form.

Create a zip file for your ebook. The download size is smaller and most browsers will default to saving the file, while they will attempt to open a straight PDF file.

Upload the zip file to your web server.

The next part depends on whether you are using confirmed opt-in (or 'double opt-in') or not.

For single opt-in, you put a link to your zip file on the thank you page and/or in the welcome email. Add some simple instructions ('right click and select 'save file', etc.).

For double opt-in, you simply put the link on the page they see after confirming their subscription and/or the first email they get after confirming.
