After Megaupload It's Time for Filesonic and Mediafire

Happy News to WSO/CB/Product Owner's

Megaupload's shutdown by Fed's sends down shiver's to other file sharing sites.Today filesonic has disable their sharing functionality.

Here is the Message from them.

All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.

If this file belongs to you, please login to download it directly from your file manager.
Next in the line to make some changes is Mediafire Hearing a lot of Good News about them in Filesharing Community.

Can we really expect a slight increase in sales from this situation?

    Hi,

This is a volatile topic, but people are just going to find new ways to share and of course pirate files. I hope that you do make more sales and if you are truly providing value you will be.

Agreed, they will find other ways to steal. I doubt shutting down 1 service will affect people that use these services as there are plenty in line they can use.

Hmm, pretty big shake down. I'm kind of looking forward to see if those Anonymous folks are going to raise hell if they don't get their megaupload back

Anonymous are nothing more than an unorganised bunch of script kiddies who hang around websites like 4chan with no leadership who DDOS/spam servers so that websites crash.

I remember times when they've proclaimed they will take down facebook etc... and nothing materialises.

The BBC has a story about it today: BBC News - Storage sites unnerved by Megaupload action

Looks like this has got a lot of people pretty rattled. Will Google Docs be next, I wonder?

        Yeah, good luck with that!

Honestly I don't think anybody can put an end to filesharing... I'm very eager to see how this unfolds.

        Hello, btw, I'm new.

Hey I don't think it will go that far, however, there will be a knock on effect. It's just a question of how much and who it will affect.

Personally I don't think it will even dent piracy. There will always be other ways due to the sheer size of the internet. I really think that piracy, like many other things in life, needs to be dealt with by educating users from a young age about the seriousness of piracy. Just like you were taught not to steal or litter.

While this is (somehow?) "Good News" for marketers, overall i am scared about this development. Did you read the new TOS of several filesharers where they also refer to "adult content" as well as "obscene content" now as not allowed?

When you are threatened with account termination or even worse, legal action because you up/download some bikini girls ...or whatever SOMEONE could deem as "obscene"...then you know that something is SERIOUSLY wrong.

And this development is not a good one.

People already have a lot of alternatives that will never be closed down because of their location. Having said that, the Megaupload bust is going to make it much harder for leechers to leech since it was a primary hub for a lot of people. These are interesting times for the internet.

Good news. I hate paying for something then finding it being shared for free online which was the case in so many ebooks and software.
