Amazon Affiliate Signup?

Hey,

I was wondering, if you decide to create Amazon ads on Squidoo what do you say in the "What is the name of your website?" and "What is the URL of the website(s) you will use to send traffic to Amazon?" on your Amazon Afiliate application profile.

Since I don't own Squidoo (of course) then what do I say when signing up to be an affiliate?

you need to have a website to signup, do not use Squidoo/wordpress/blogger or any other free provider since they can ban you account at anytime without notice and you lose all the hard work..

Get a domain, you can find domain coupons and get them for 2 or 3 $ then signup for a hosting account and do it u r self, trust me its not worth losing all your work because they decided to ban u

Why does it say this, then, under the URL question:

"your website, your blog, your Twitter feed, etc." ?

Twitter is free, so is Wordpress and Blogger, so I'm confused.

But you're saying these should be the following steps:

      1. Buy a domain.
      2. Buy a hosting plan (like Host Gator)
      3. Sign up for Amazon Affiliates
      4. Start writing on Squidoo

Not really..here is what you need to do..

        1. Buy a domain.
        2. Buy a hosting plan (like Host Gator)

        3. Create a website ( install wordpress on it as its easy and you can find alot of information, tho I don't use but alot of beginners and experts use it.. you can't submit your site to Amazon and the site is not up or doesn't have any content so you have to create the website

        4. after you are accepted, usually in 24 hours..you can start promoting but I suggest that you write good content and then create affiliate links to Amazon because Google needs to rank you and if you just put Amazon ads then it won't work

So after I get the domain and hosting plan to create content could I create the ads on Squidoo, save the drafts then copy and paste to my website? Then after I do that I can just submit each saved draft on Squidoo?

Here is the deal: I bought Steve East's e-book on how to make money using Squidoo by marketing Amazon products. So that is why I created the thread in the 1st place, because I want to do this right.

You can implement the same methods on u r site, Squidoo is going after marketers.. so they might ban u, u can do his approach and register a squidoo page then write content and promote your affiliate links.

If you still want to do it then you have to register the page with squidoo then put some content on it and go to amazon, submit your page link, full link and wait for the approval then once u r approved you can add the links.

So basically put the same ad/article on both, Squidoo and my site, just to be safe.

But if I don't have a site I have to register each article into Amazon Affiliate profile?

I would love to find a domain coupon for $2 or $3. All I can find is $7, but that still is a bargain. Of course you can get .info domains for $1.99 at godaddy. Probably with a bit of searching you can find a coupon for them also.

Hello USE THE CODE freeze149 at godaddy, domain for 1.49$ .. you can only pay by a creditcard because paypal will charge them alot and they won't accept paypal for coupons. after you buy the domain keep it for 60 days then transfer it to somewhere else since godaddy supported the SOPA..

Get hosting with a cpanel and use fantastico to install a blog on the wordpress platform. Do that and put some quick content up and Amazon will accept you.

That would be my advice. That is what worked for me.

I use Squidoo to promote Amazon products regularly and have for almost 3 years. I also own my own sites and while that's the #1 method I'd propose for promoting Amazon, I got my start on Squidoo and can understand why many would want to start out that way. It's easy, it's free, and there are built-in tools to help you get a page up in literally minutes.

Squidoo is not "after marketers" although some of the steps they've taken to keep their site in line with Google's algorithm changes have been interpreted as being unfriendly to marketers. Those changes were geared towards eliminating spam and spam-attracting topics, though. They continue to be a great platform for promoting Amazon products.

I'm trying to think back to how I got my Amazon account. I don't think I used a Squidoo lens to apply. I think I used a personal blog that had maybe 5 posts on it, if that. The site wasn't even written to promote products - it was more a journal.

Once you're approved, you can use your affiliate links on Squidoo even if you got approved by using your own site in the application.

No, its either you have a squidoo page / pages or you have a website, don't post on both.. Amazon requires one main page then you can add other pages..

I think you need to read another book to have more information.. I don't want to promote a book but I have read http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...iew-sites.html and it is great.. she teaches alot of stuff..I bought her book..

I am not affiliated with her but I know she knows alot and her book teaches alot if u r a beginner..

That's hysterical! I've been tripping across your posts all day today so I should have known!

Edit - Should have noted, too, that the compliment and recommendation is always welcome. Much appreciated!

Okay, thanks everyone. By the way, if I create a Amazon product site, ala Squidoo, via HostGator do I have to know HTML?

Does putting Amazon ads on your own website differ with Squidoo in visual appearance? If so could someone show me an example website of what that looks like?
