Any internet marketers here whom are still attending college?

I am an internet marketer who is still attending college in Malaysia (will transfer to the US in Spring 2010) and currently pursuing Economics and Business Administration.

    Hey Desmond,

Yeah, I am a second semester freshman... Started IM when I was 14 years old.

    Lots of college aged IMers

I'm curious. You've seen the power of IM and started at an early age....why then are you in college? Will it help you in your online marketing?

        Hi Denise,

I think most "college" internet marketers go to college for one reason -- parents.

Well, I am making much more than some of my lecturers in university but sometimes I believe it will be safer to have a degree in hand and well, to satisfy my parents' dream to have a child with a degree in hand.

Honestly, every first week of my semester, I really feel like college is a worthless piece of idea that will not help me. I've run business both online and offline and have found tremendous short term success.

This is just my personal belief, but I think that everybody nowadays should experience university and acquire a degree. I realize that billions of people around the world can't afford it, but if you have the opportunity to go, I really think it is a valuable life lesson.

I am 19 and in second year university studying political science. I might get a full-time job when I graduate because I think being part of the mainstream workforce is not only a valuable life experience as well, but the workplace is one of the best places to meet great people.

I'm actually considering getting a masters degree as well, just because learning is fun

Life to me isn't all about making money, because I value knowledge as well (not to mention family, but that's kinda obvious). Money is awesome, but think about this..say you've lived most of your life and it's been prosperous: you're rich and you live in a big house. But you realized that you don't have a degree, you've never fully experienced college life, you've never felt part of a community like at work or the student body, etc.

The reason why I think many people think college is useless is because they pick the wrong fields of study. I love politics, I love most of the classes I've taken, and even though I agree that lectures are for the most part boring, I value my time at school.
I know I'll probably never pursue a career in politics, but the knowledge that I gain from getting a degree will make me a better person.

I'm graduating this May, but I am just getting started with internet marketing pretty much right now. It's very exciting as I am hoping to avoid working a 9-to-5 when I graduate, and I definitely see IM as playing a big role in that.

The reason I ask is that I've heard of doctors and other professionals turning to IM because it makes more than they earned in the profession. Many times more. It just seems like if you know how to make money online, that you would focus on ways to do that even better and never need college.

I have graduated with a degree in Maths. I haven't ever used my degree for any of the 9-5 jobs I have worked (all tech support jobs that didn't require degree). Although I haven't used my degree I feel I learned valuable lessons in completing it. Skills such as problem solving and research methods come in very handy in IM as well as being able to make good notes and being able to organize and use your time effectively. Now I am not saying it is necessary to go to college to learn these skills but it does make it a little easier.
