Any Indian Warriors online now?? Sorted, thanks

I don't think this is the correct forum for this, but wasn't sure where to post it.

Someone posted this as a comment on my blog this morning. This person has sent a copy of their ID to a scammer.

"I am abhijeet and i received the mail by antonio guzman on 26th jan. 09. and i reply it and i send the scan copy of the mail and ID(PAN Card). Now what did i have to do now plz tell me.

I'd like to answer, but not sure what to say. My instinct is to tell the commenter to contact the local Police, plus bank if they have a bank account, and even the passport authorities if they have a passport.

But I'd appreciate some local knowledge.

Thanks
Carol

I think the answer is global, report any types of scam to the necessary authorities.

    Hi,

If you can contact abhijeet (the poster), you can ask him to contact the "Cyber Crime Police Stations" in India here>>
    Cyber Crime Police Stations

Also you can ask him to contact the "Income Tax Department" to cancel his original PAN (Permanent Account Number) and issue him a new one.

However I don't think simply giving away PAN can do any harm unless the scammer uses his signature from the PAN card.

Thank you Shrinivas. Yes, I do have the poster's email address. I will pass on that advice. I wasn't sure what a PAN was. And thanks for the link to the cyber crime police.
