I heard it somewhere if you take it from one source, it's plagarism, if you take it from two or more - it's research. PROVIDING you do some of the work, and take the time to make sure it's quality information, and not just re-worded garbage.

    Good luck with that .

    Cheers,

Taking content that isn't yours and rewriting it is a big no-no... and no, it isn't the same as "research". How would you feel if someone took something that you worked hard on and just ripped it off (oh wait... sorry... "rewrote" it)??

... didnt say i agreed with it. Believe it or not, that came from a well known marketer.

Ultimately, if a bunch of people are writing a how-to on the same subject, eventually, the same advice is going to come back up.

I'm not suggesting you read two articles, call it reseach, and pass it off as your own, it is a question of ethics, and how much of the work is yours does play a massive part in it. If you know nothing about the subject you're giving the report away on, and it leads to a sale, and that customer contacts you for advice, how comfortable will it be to tell them that you don't know? Bye Bye trust!!

      Hmmm....

The only content that should be rewritten is your own original articles and posts derived from legitimate research - not someone elses. If you spin your own stuff for syndication make sure the software you use has a uniqueness scoring feature. I don't use a spun article or bookmark of my own unless it's 90% or greater uniqueness score. Don't forget to hit the software's "spin article" feature at least a few dozen times to make sure the spins read well. That's me, I'm picky and paranoid. Good luck!

To re-write other people's articles, yes; of course: it breaches their copyright. That's "civil law illegal", not "criminal law illegal", usually. People can be sued for it, not (usually) prosecuted for it. They pay damages, not (usually) go to prison.

But it isn't (usually) illegal to be influenced by their ideas and then write about them entirely in your own words. Some of the finer distinctions between the two are what's produced the "evidence" in many interesting contested lawsuits over "breach of copyright".

      It is illegal.

Research should not involve the rewriting of content. As Alexa said above, being influenced by ideas, then writing something fresh and new, and quite unique, in your own words, is usually acceptable.

Rewriting content, in the way I suspect you mean, is likely to produce a result that is both interesting and original. Unfortunately, the interesting parts won't be very original, and the original parts won't be very interesting.

What you could do is write an "answer" article to another article, meaning, take note of points you don't agree with and write from your perspective. But to just put someone else's words in your own isn't cool.

I would not base a future career on that simplistic assumption. It is not great at all - despite the support of four dots and an exclamation mark.
