Warriors - offer more payment methods

This post is aimed at warriors offering their services on the forum. I am aware that most of you are aiming at US customers, but not all countries in the world are allowed to use PayPal. Moreover, some people cannot use PP for different reasons like blocked account etc.

I am part of the first group and all I can say is that you are really leaving money on the table. It doesn't pass a month that I become very interested in buying a certain product or service, but I get discouraged when I see the only method you go for is PayPal.

There is 2checkout, plimus and many others. You can even open Skrill account (former known as moneybookers) which doesn't cost anything and get more customers every day - it's really that simple.

The customer you've missed,
Slix

I can't speak for everybody, but a lot of warriors myself included use the WSO board to test offers before launching them to the rest of the world... The money made from selling WSOs is only a fraction of what the rest of our businesses make and missing out on the odd discount sale isn't a big deal.

Now, if your livelihood depends on selling WSOs, the op has probably made a valid point.

I have made this same point in a thread some time ago, it falls on deaf ears, people get into a 'rut' and don't want to do anything but keep in it.

As a WSO seller myself I know that the majority of countries that are not supported by Paypal are not countries I want to be selling to anyway. There is usually a very good reason why Paypal does not allow those countries and it usually has something to do with a higher risk of scams and fraud originating from that country -- not something I want to deal with for the sake of a few missed sales.

If someone has been banned from Paypal then there is also usually a pretty good reason for that as well so once again, not the kind of people I am going to go out of my way to attract.

    Thems the breaks.

Not entirely true, for example PayPal doesn't work with my country because my country has retarded laws which prevent PayPal from working normally. It has something to do with money from my country being handled in foreign country.

And most of the other methods of payment are not refundable, which means people can't charge you back like with the PayPal = less hassle for you. But each to its own!

He didn't say it was true in every case, he said usually.

False. If they pay via credit card, they can file a charge back no matter what processor you use. Charge backs have zero to do with Paypal.

I understand that and I do actually feel for those honest people in countries where they are prevented from using Paypal, but what I am saying is that a lot of times the countries that are banned from using services are in a higher risk category than others and so I am not going to go out of my way to allow payments from people in those countries.

Yes, I may lose a few sales by doing so but I am possibly saving myself a lot of headaches also.

I'm a WSO vendor and that is the exact reason why I continue to use Paypal. That's what your question was referring to and I'm just telling you straight up that is why I have no problems using Paypal..

I'll just say that you can't get a charge back on Moneybookers (Skrill), since you are first uploading money to your Skrill account and then sending it to a second party. I'll leave it at that since people act hostile for some reason.

You may still use your credit card in paying PayPal. There's an option of pay with paypal account and pay with credit card.

Isn't there an option where you can pay by PayPal without logging into your PayPal account, so it goes straight through Visa, Mastercard etc?

I actually tried a different payment solution before, 2Checkout, and unfortunately as soon as I switched over my sales dropped.

I let it run for a while, and the very day I switched back to PayPal my sales picked back up again to exactly where they were before. Nothing else had changed, only the payment processor.

The trouble seems to be that so many people in the world use PayPal, have an active account and / or know and trust the name. So when they see a lesser known processor they either don't trust it, or don't want to go through the trouble of filling in all their details in order to use it, as 2Checkout makes customers do.

In short, cart abandonment rates increase substantially.

So in my personal experience as a vendor, if you don't use PayPal you're actually leaving a lot more money on the table than you lose through the geographic and other restrictions that come along with it.

And unfortunately for folks here who can't buy through PayPal, on top of that most WSO vendors would not be able to properly track affiliate referrals and pay out commissions if an extra payment method beyond PP were available on an offer.

This is because with many of the most popular digital product delivery / affiliate tracking solutions you can have either PayPal OR 2Checkout OR "other", but not more than one at a time.

So I feel for you guys, but unfortunately it's not just a matter of sellers being obstinate and refusing to budge. Sometimes there are restrictions that are quite difficult to effectively work around.

For now, Paypal and credit card payments are the best methods for both parties to do some transactions. But I don't know if they can accept Alertpay (another legitimate processor) in the future?

paypal allows you to pay by credit card too.

so as long as you have a CC that should be fine.

        Heya guys,

thanks for all your replies. It really gave me an insight of certain things I had no idea about, like
This is because with many of the most popular digital product delivery / affiliate tracking solutions you can have either PayPal OR 2Checkout OR "other", but not more than one at a time.
In the case above, it's clearly the best idea to go for Paypal.

And for those asking why don't I simply use credit card without registering a Paypal account - well, the problem is that I cannot select my country from the drop-down list when paying through PayPal - it doesn't exist there

I do agree. Pay pal is a head ache for us. They always take for ever. Also, they a very difficult to work with and can close down your account for any reason. Sadly, they provide EBAY's poor service. It really is the same company.

Problem with many of the new services. Governments love to shut them down and all your money is gone. Typically, they will find some old rule that is very arcane.
