Is my new site lame or a good idea?

The topic of a bailout has been in the news (here in the states) a lot in the past few months. In fact it seems that's all they talk about.

So I decided to capitalize on this hot button topic and make a site related to this with a slightly different twist.

I created the site called "Bailout For America" (link is my signature)

Basically the idea is we are giving away $5 to one of our email subscribers every day. We also give $5 to the subscriber that referred the winner.

So instead of the government bailing out huge corporations with tax dollars, we are bailing out people on main street $5 bucks at a time.

I am using the site to build an email list of opportunity seekers and hopefully I'll make more money from the list than it costs me to give $5 to two people everyday (about $300 a month).

My questions for you:

What do you think of the idea?

Does the site look too cheesy?

Does this whole thing sound too good to be true or sound like a scam?

If you stumbled on to the site would you signup, or would you leave without signing up? And why?

Thanks in advance to all you warriors. Your advice is priceless.

Very interesting and it could become a real big hit.

I bet if you offered free & interesting ebooks etc. your opt-in rate would rise.

Since you're targeting op seekers the ebooks could have your affiliate link within.

Why target only op seekers? The bailout is a hot subject these days for all Americans.

Very creative and plugs into a very hot & current trend - that's going to remain that way for quite some time.

Make sure you give everyone in the country that''s online a chance to visit.

All The Best In All Your Endeavors!

Ps. I didn't notice any exit page offer when I left without signing up.

Nice idea, but I think you're going to need a bigger prize than $5.

Others are doing something similar (like iwon and publishers clearinghouse) and are giving away millions.

Best way to find out is to test it and see if it works.

I don't think it will be the next milliondollarhomepage or anything, but it may get you some good leads

The site looks great, that's for sure

Interesting idea... but do you need a 'lottery license'?

I doubt it. Nick isn't selling any tickets.

Sorry, my mistake. I mean a 'gaming' license. My understanding is that to run certain contests (especially if becomes popular) you 'need' some sort of license?

I like it alot, I think its a great idea and the website is well presented. I know $5 is not a great prize but i think the subject matter overcomes that. Well done from me!!

    Hi Nick,

Great idea and very nice looking site.

    You are a born entrepreneur.

    Nick, I'm just dissapointed I can't signup
because I'm not a US resident.

Anyway I wish you much success with it.

It sounds like a good idea to me - although I'm a newbie so don't rely on my advice! But if I was looking at your site I would wonder why anyone would want to give money away for nothing and think that there was more to it. You know that you want the leads, the average Jo might think you're going to do something much worse.
