Becoming Productively Lazy

Being productively lazy was my entire goal with online marketing and creating products. I didn't want to work that hard because I value my time and I enjoy doing other things besides working. I guess that's why I focus a lot of my attention on creating systems that work for me so I can enjoy life.

If their is anything that I could tell myself when I first started out was create a system for your business. Don't try and learn everything and learn how to build a team. I don't like graphic design, seo, or market research. I understand and know how to do those things but I rather not.

So, now I enjoy the productively lazy lifestyle by having my team do work. I think that is what online marketing is about in a sense. To enjoy the time that we create for ourselves. When people ask me what I do I just "I'm productively lazy".

What would you tell yourself when you first started out online now?

That's great advice. For a lot of people like yourself, having a team is absolutely essential. It is very difficult to do everything yourself, so if you find competent people to work with you, it can make a huge difference!

I'd probably tell myself to keep costs to a minimum, and to stay focused on one endeavor rather than jumping from one project to another. Another thing that comes to mind is to do extensive research and to develop a business plan before getting into it, because it can be the defining difference between a successful business and an unsuccessful one.

There are probably many more things I should have told myself when I was starting out. I am just lucky that I figured out most of those things eventually!

Great advice... I thought the two words can't go together... Or how about maybe work hard for a month or two in building or achieving something and then when it's done and pouring down cash, then I can go lazy and just watch and enjoy my success... Play golf all day... or hang out at the beach for days or weeks...

One of my friends shared to me about his experience in working for himself. He had a big time client and his work was really exhausting. So he told me that he hired a couple as his assistants to help him on the project. He outsourced it most to his assistants, while 10% to 15% of the work goes to him.

Having your own team will help save your time in working with those huge projects.

I guess Timothy Ferriss taught you well,

No doubt, it pays to be productively lazy... but many
don't get it right, so they end up productively poor,

Great ideas. I like the concept 'productively lazy'.

However, I have noticed that enjoying life is relative. Some people enjoy getting glued to their computer screens 16 hours a day; others like speeding just 4 hours a week.

Some people like making money to leave behind a big legacy. To them talking a boat ride or spending time with friends is a waste of resources.

Others like to make money and have time to spend it.

It is all depends on a person's goals or income targets.
