Need Assistance from Senior Warriors for next steps for a Newbie

Hello fellow Warriors,

I'm hoping some of you Senior Warriors can assist, as I seem to be "stuck."

Here is a summary of my journey so far:

Summer of 2011, I purchase Dan Lok's Massive Passive Income Program consisting of an 8 week course with 2 hour online live webinar once a week with homework throughout the week. The content of the course was to become an affiliate marketer via Click Bank. It consisted of picking a niche, building a site (Word Press), finding good keywords, purchasing domain name, SEO techniques, promoting, etc. The course was very well done, and I found it was not complete or long enough. There was still a lot of gaps to be filled from a newbie perspective; like finding a web designer to help with our sites, etc. There was one of Dan's successful students (Kevin Pasco) came into the latter sessions to assist with some technical savvy and offered an extended course to pick up where Dan left off.

Part of Kevin's service was buying a "done for you site" that 100% complete for any niche you want, covering everything A-Z. The problem I currently have is that his starting package is $1,250 per site, plus $99 for 6 months, which is a little steep for me to start out. I do intent to purchase his Course and Website Set-Up, but would like to earn some IM Income before doing so. I have been researching more affordable solutions to take my platform knowledge to the next level, and recently bought Steven Wagenheim's Luxury niche pack as he came highly recommended on this forum. His kit looks great, but I feel "stuck" in implementing this program as well.

Where am I going wrong? I don't know what I don't know. Do I need a mentor? A specific Course to put it all together?

Thanks for your suggestions,

Daniel

    Daniel,

I don't want to take business away from anyone, but don't be spending $1,250 on getting a site built.

Look, I am happy to help you out here and I don't want any cash or anything in return. I can't give you load of time as I have work, family myself etc...but I can show you how to set up a host, install wordpress, post some content and get you started? I may not be a IM guru, but I technically I know a lot more then most.

Let me know if helpful and I will PM you.

It will be my way of giving a bit back and putting some good stuff out into the big universal karma pool. You sound like a good chap and I don't want to see you get taken for a ride.

    Best Regards,
    Luke

    So...

Did you pick a niche, build a site, find good keywords, purchase a domain name, do SEO and promote as taught in Massive Passive Income?

How is that going? Traffic? Income?

You should have enough income from your current work to cover the cost of the further learning you want to do.

If you haven't generated any income after an 8-week course plus weekly 2-hour webinars, then it is unlikely a $1,250 + $600 maintenance site is going to suddenly change anything.

It is hard to get more specific because you haven't asked any specific questions or described your problem.

Are you stuck finding a niche?
Found a niche but stuck finding keywords?
Found a niche and keywords but don't know how to set up WordPress?
Have a site set up but you get no traffic?
You get traffic but no conversions?

It would be easier to help you if you described the problems you were having.

        Hi

Sorry for the delay in replying, I hope this is still useful.

Keyword - Don't get too hung up on keywords. If you have picked a good niche (evergreen) with many keywords (large market) you should be able to drill down and find good keywords. I'm not familiar with the course you are following so I don't know if they have specific KW research methods but here are a few things to help find keywords.

        Google Suggest keywords
Use the Google Suggest keywords to help find keywords that may be popular to do further research on.

        Ubersuggest
Keyword suggestion tool — Google suggest scraper — Ãœbersuggest

This free online tool lets you enter keyword(s) and returns the Google Suggest results. The tool then allows you to "drill down" to further Google Suggest results.

Options: English/USA you can then have the option of seeing web, news or product results.

Clicking the "+/-" adds/removes the keyword from a list you can then save as text.

Use the Include/Exclude Terms to filter results with keyword modifiers
Add things to "include" like: product, buy, price, how to, repair, cure,
etc. This is especially effective in niches with their own terminology and jargon. Acronyms are also good.

Use the exclude terms to "remove" results you do not want like: brand names, free, unrelated items with the same name.

For example, maybe you want keyword phrases that include the word "cure" but not the word "disease". Or maybe you want results for hair care, but not related to hair loss. Exclude: "hair loss", "thinning", "balding"

You can add/remove terms and instantly modify search results.

        Reverse Engineer competitor keywords
Take the URL of one of the top competing sites in the SERPS and enter it in "Reverse Engineering" tools like Spyfu.com and Alexa.com.

Spyfu shows the keywords the site is ranking in Google's Top 50 for. It also shows the top competitors that also rank for those keywords. Alexa shows the keywords and percent of traffic received for each keyword along with other traffic stats.

Dig manually and with other resources
There are more ways to dig out keywords. Use other keyword tools and resources besides Google. Remember there is a real person typing those "keywords" into the Google search box. Don't rely 100% on pure stats. Try to get into the mind of the searcher and what they might enter to find what they are looking for.

I hope some of that helps. Keyword research is not an exact science so find a niche you know will be keyword rich and start digging!

        Mahlon

PS. WordPress is easy once you have set up a couple of web sites. It seems like a lot, but once you have used it you will know the main things you need to adjust. Solving those issues will result in a "proper site".

EDIT: YouTube is a great resource for learning how to install WP, plugins, themes and how to set up and tweak your site. A lot of IM web sites offer free WP courses too if you look around. For example those at wordpress.org: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Lessons

Building a wordpress site might seem complicated now but it's really quite easy, and note that everyone here has been in your position before.
Your first site doesn't need to be perfect at all.

Set aside a few hours and just begin.
Go and register a domain name. Order a web hosting account. Point your domain name to your web hosting account. Then figure out how to install wordpress (it takes 2 minutes). Choose a free wordpress theme (design) and spend some time figuring out how wordpress works and adding your content. There are literally thousands of free wordpress tutorials on google to assist you.

If you do that first you'll never have a site.

Step 1. Order a domain name.

    Got it.
    1. Pick the niche
    2. Choose a domain name.
    3. Pay for a host.
    4. Direct the domain to the host.
    5. Then do the WordPress Tutorial?

    Thanks,
