Syndication Outlets Requiring Original Content

It'd be awesome for Alexa or myob to respond to this, but anyone else with relevant active syndication experience feel free to chime in!

When actively searching for syndication partners, I'm finding 4 out of every 5 to require original content (across multiple niches).

I'm wondering if the high percentage that require original content is out of the ordinary (in your experience)?

Also, do we just pass these sites by and move onto the next person that offers syndicated content?

And finally, have you had luck suggesting guest posting/syndication to webmasters who have not visibly used syndication on their site so far? I know it's no harm to shoot them an e-mail if there's an outside shot!

Thanks so much in advance!!

Not sure where you are looking for "syndication partners" that so many are asking for original content? I have not had that experience.

Yes, myob and Alexa have both said that you should just pass them by-- and in my experience (because I was too dumb to take their word for it and had to test it for myself) I completely agree.

I have had some success with sites that have not previously used syndicated content, but I haven't tried beyond my (somewhat rare) niche, mostly on sites and in ezines dedicated to the same or very similar narrow niche.

I'm using google, searching for niche + exact match keyword (ex "guest post")

      Thanks for your input!!

I've had some similar experiences. Could depend on the niche, but I've only been really working in one so I can't say for certain.

Probably has a lot more to do with the webmaster's understanding of duplicate/syndicated content OR simply their desire to have things that are completely unique as sort of an "attraction" or something that makes them stand out somehow.

I'm really not sure, I'm just trying to put myself in their shoes. I know that some sites and ezines realize there is no harm from syndicated content. Just not a lot that I'm running into so far!

Keep digging! You and I will certainly find some. I've expanded my circle to include searches about two (actually three now that I think about it) overlapping broad areas that each encompass parts of my niche.

Like Alexa said once about her "cauliflower soup" articles, it might be websites with moms wanting ideas for kids lunches, soup blogs, culinary training materials for professional chefs, and ezines about top secret copycat recipes. People coming from different angles that would still find at least some aspect of your article collection desirable.

I'm also going to start offering articles to sites or blogs that don't necessarily look like they've had syndicated material. Maybe they wouldn't use it for their site, but perhaps for their ezine? You never know, I guess.

        Best wishes!

Thanks for the encouragement!! I know there's work involved one way or the other, and I know there's a lot more leverage with partners who'll syndicate. Obviously you do too, and your positive attitude + some work is all you need to be a massive hit! You're in a good spot.

Thanks Alfredo for the tip! I love the fresh angle you've offered me. Thanks for the fresh set of eyeballs. After searching using this technique the take away I've gotten is a point I have been overlooking:

Cast the net wide when searching for blogs; don't just focus for that one specific type of fish that your blog is about! Stop solely looking for king crab when you can also "cast your bait" for sea bass. Please don't hurt me fisherman I was searching for a metaphoric example!

I've gotten access to the directory of ezines due to the recommendations from others, and I can honestly say that I was expecting more for the price. However, I also know that one partnership struck up from this directory could lead to the directory paying for itself. I guess I was just expecting thousands of ezines, but it looks like much less than that

I'll get my money's worth out of it though one way or another!
