Free Video Screencapture similar to camtasia?

Hey im need of a screencapturing tool, I kno camtasia is a great one, but would like to hold off on purchasing it until I know that I will need it consistently. Is there a decent free one that could at least get the job done? and yes I can no longer use the demo.

There's www.camstudio.org - CamStudio, which is a good free alternative to Camtasia. If you don't want to mess with installing codecs and all that, there's www.jingproject.com from the people who made Camtasia - the quality isn't 100% but it does do the job quickly.

There is a kid on youtube who has 1000s of people following him as he teaches how to use CamStudio. He makes great videos and shows you everything. I don't think I can post a link yet - but if you im me I will point you in the right direction.
