Amazon US clicks include international clicks?

Say you're not using a link localizer so that you can send a UK visitor to the UK Amazon site... all affiliate links send your visitor to the US Amazon site only.

Are these clicks from international visitors included in your Amazon US clicks count? Or does Amazon filter these out for you?

Any help would be great!

Thanks!

Yes; pretty sure they are included. Overseas customers can place orders on Amazon.com too, so why wouldn't their clicks and sales be tracked?

Sure ... of course. (Why wouldn't they be? They're still potential customers, aren't they?).

This is a great question. I'm looking for an answer on this as well.

I suppose I'm trying to weigh the pro's and con's of using a link localizer. To me, there's not much upside of using a link localizer because of the lack of the same product on Amazon UK, Amazon CA. etc.

I feel like I'd rather have my US clicks look inflated than missing out on potential overseas customers or international customers (who live there) that can actually order something from Amazon US and have it delivered to them.

    Am I off here?

It depends what you're selling and to whom, I guess? As with everything else, test and see and stick with whatever earns you the most.

If you're promoting a product that's not available domestically, without any equivalent, and people want it enough, then some will order and swallow the shipping and potential customs charges.

I've done it myself in the past, but very rarely. Too much of a gamble in case of defects, warranty claims and unpredictable charges, etc.

If there are highly rated alternatives available domestically, then I'd bet most customers would rather opt for them... but that's just conjecture. Amazon's reporting isn't that detailed, anyway, so there's no way (so far as I'm aware) of finding out where stuff was ordered from or where it's being delivered.

Last week somebody went from one of my UK Amazon sites to the US Amazon site and bought 8 of the same toy - not available on the UK site. I wouldn't have got those sales if I hadn't been using a link localizer. It doesn't matter if they sell the same products, you still get the sale if they buy something else.

Which link localizer are you using? I tried the free one Amazon Affiliate Link Localizer, but it kept displaying an error in the bottom left corner of the browser so I removed it.

I just had a look at the plugin page, it says the latest version was Last Updated: 2012-1-12, so maybe it is more reliable now.
