Someone explain this to me

I'm new here, so sorry if I'm missing something or it's really obvious.

But I've spent some time reading WSO threads, and I don't really understand why people are so enthusiastic about the products. Almost every reply I've seen is along the lines of 'WOW!! This changed my life. Thank you.'

Yet when someone asks 'Has anyone earned any money from this?' there's no response. Sometimes when there's a theme or template involved, there will be 15 or 20 people saying it's fantastic yet no one can/will provide a link or screenshot.

There are no 'Good product, thanks' or 'This product wasn't that great' responses. Everyone is completely over-the-top hyper enthusiastic.

Obviously this doesn't apply to ALL WSO threads, but it applies to most of them. Is there some kind of behind-the-scenes trading going on? 'You say my product is awesome and I'll say yours is'?

It seems like a forum where people advise each other on writing, marketing and selling products mostly has members which fall for their own advice and spend all their money buying from each other

That's an interesting observation. I've purchased many wsos based on user feedback only to wonder why they liked the product. My perspective may be a bit different because I've been in the game so long. The bottom line is that you should be wary of any product that does not tell you what it is and how it works AND you should always get a refund for a substandard product and make sure you post honest feedback on the wso thread as per forum rules. That's how you keep the vendors honest and help everyone else.

    1. Don't spend too much time in the WSO section.
    2. Those "hype" comments should be a clear warning: stay away from this product
    3. A small trick: click their name and see their "more posts..." Quite often it's obvious their only forum activity is to post BS replies to wso threads and never ever contributing anything in any other forum...

    Very interesting, thanks.

I did spot quite a few replies from people who had just 1 or 2 posts in total as well. That would explain it.

Some, not all, will have the first page filled up with shill testimonials. Testimonials that mean nothing. If you're looking at WSOs that promise a certain income level, beware.

If the threads of WSOs go on for pages and pages, start reading the comments from the middle to the end. Those will be more enlightening.

Generally, I have not run across a WSO with an income promise that had real testimonials saying that they indeed did make what the WSO promised. Doesn't mean that you can't ... just beware.

I personally don't buy WSOs like that. I buy useful tools for my businesses and informational WSOs where I need more info on a subject. I am 99% happy with the WSOs I buy.

Your observation is very valid indeed.

    I think so.

Call me a skepchick, but I think it's because they've all been given a free copy of the product in exchange for an expressly solicited review. Often without declaring it (though some do).

I look for reviews from people who've bought it, and started using it before they write the review, myself.

You might appreciate some of the chat about this subject in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ht-please.html

Its called Internet Marketing Incest (IMI) - at least I call it.

You scratch my ba**s and I will scratch yours! The whole WSO culture is borne out of a need to make money (and to launch test-products to test the market).

Oh, if you ever purchase one and don't like it, don't be scared to return it! Good sales pages does not equal good product! (Make sure there is a refund policy!)

I love that "IMI"...it's so accurate!

There's a large network/community of WSO sellers who endorse and counter-endorse. Just as with anything else, you've gotta be careful. As already pointed out, check a poster's history and if most or all of it is on the WSO board, be extra careful.

Some people come here and are drawn to the WSO board almost exclusively. In my opinion, the only good reason for hanging out there is to learn how to market to the MMO crowd.

If that's what you want to do then it would even be worth signing up for Warrior Plus Silver membership where you get a list of all WSOs launched along with some pretty revealing statistical info. The rest is easy.

Find the hot selling offers and emulate what the sellers are selling and the copy they're using. Get accepted into one of the many WSO "mastermind" groups and you just might end up the next WSO Superstar.

It's funny when some sales pages have more "Actual Warrior Testimonials" on the sales post than there are actual posts in the thread. Where did those glowing testimonials come from?

It's all just part of the whole JV thing - "promote my offer to your list and I'll promote yours. Just leave me a nice review...."
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[5503504].message }}

Those most likely came from giving the offer away for free in the private members area of the forum. I've seen sellers give away copies of their wso before launching, then copy paste the positive reviews from that forum, over to the wso thread. Not sure this is even allowed honestly but its not something I've done personally.

        Russ,

If the testimonials came from people who got the product free, and they're used to sell it, the thread should make clear that the comments aren't from paying customers.

Example: I gave something away for free in the War Room, and used the comments in a WSO in which I was also giving it away free. With links back to the originals, for War Room members to be able to verify. If I'd been selling the same thing, I would have made it clear that the comments were not from paying customers.

I think the important part is to make sure that potential customers have a clear and complete picture of the source and circumstances of the comments used to promote the product. That lets them give whatever weight they feel is appropriate, based on their own standards. Keeps things clean.

Hey Paul, I do understand exactly what you are saying but it doesn't address what was pointed out earlier. There are more testimonials pasted into the wso thread from the WF then there are on the actual thread. Where are they coming from if they aren't in the actual wso thread?

There are some groups who play that game, but the penalties for getting caught are pretty severe. The majority of the "overly glowing" reviews are from new people, who are learning something that is, for them, both exciting and new.

Keep in mind that the low post counts might be from shills or fake accounts. They are more often from people whose first experience with the forum is being sent to an offer through various affiliate programs. They're not interested in discussions. Just commenting on stuff they bought.

You are totally right....most people think because its a WSO that its going to be the ANSWER to their long search for gold! hahaha...sure a few of them are great...buts all the same rubbish you find elsewhere...and most people leaving comments are not experts....as a matter of fact a lot of so called elite forums...make fun of this place cause all we do is sell $7 ebooks to one another

Don't be too harsh on the lack of follow-ups by successful buyers of the WSO. It's human nature, by and large, to keep something that works to yourself. Especially if it can get saturated by competition, and that's about 90% of everything in IM.

I almost never buy WSO's that are not from long-time and trusted Warriors with lots of helpful, knowledgable posts in the free parts of this forum. It's a good rule to spend your money by. Not foolproof, but improves your odds.

This is all part of marketing efforts i would say...

You should only look at those WSO that suits you...look at the thread or maybe ask a few questions. By asking questions, you can judge yourself if that WSO is suitable for you.

    Hope this helps

lol, I totally hear you on this.

I think people see the product, get excited but never take action. But if the product doesn't produce results, its not really the product creator's fault. Success is a process which starts on the inside, lots of people on here don't get that. They're still trying to find the "secret" instead of rolling up their sleeves and getting to work.
