So I Had "copyright 2007 to present" On My Site And...

I got an email from someone today who thought that meant my site hasn't been updated since 2007!

YIKES!

My point is that sometimes things that you overlook or think are clear, are not. I thanked him for pointing that out to me as he's right. When you glanced down in the footer you see 2007 and you'd assume the site is that old and therefore so is everything in it. That's not good as it gives the total WRONG impression of the site.

So hopefully this helps someone else who had an year in the past to present in their footer. People do read it and it can be misread by them. I changed it to the current year and updated all images that had any sign of older dates in them.

      Well, having people believe "your site is old" is not actually bad. Having people think that the information on it is old (or out-of-date) MIGHT be bad depending on what you're website is about.

      It never hurts to have a "site established 2007" or the copyright 2007 in there; for anybody who actually looks at that anymore, it might buy you a little credibility showing that your site has been around a while. Hardly a negative.

      As well, within the text of the site itself, you have make it clear that the information is (as of 2012) up-to-date, accurate, and so fourth.

      It's an easy fix and something that I'm sure you're happy that you're now aware of!

    Interesting post. You never know what someone will grap onto when they read something.

    I generally keep a list of all these things and make changes all at one time to save time.
